video files can be deleted on the Touch itself. yeah, only the videos.

hohoho...install SIP client + dock mic makes an ipod touch a wifi iphone. huhuhu...

just tap and hold any icon for a few seconds, until they start to goncang2. while this happen, you can drag any icon to any place. when done, tap the home button. Nice, no need to respring.

opss, sorry sorry my mistake. It can only be done with the january software update on iTunes. If you're using iPod firmware 1.1.2 and below, you can use Customize or XLauncher to arrange the icon. On 1.1.3, the installer app is not yet available as the there's still no jailbreak method.

Still, USD20 is not cheap. And while we need to pay, new iPod Touch that newly ships came with that new functions preinstalled. That's more weird.

Yup, that's right. On that time it involves price difference. But now, it is about the function differences.

Either way, money is involved in the scenario. And it is not a small amount. Hope that they will just give it for free. Waiting for a week to secure my optimism, or will I got wrong?

The wifi icon is already the wifi status bar. if it's full bar it shows 3 blue coloured curved lines.

mmm...iPod classic is a hard drive based iPod. it doesn't have wifi and it lacks touchscreen. As for iPod Touch, yeah the name says it all, it have touch screen. It is like an iPhone without the phone function. More info on apple.com/itunes

if you have iTunes coupon credit, you can register a new account for iTunes Store. Remember though that other Apple accounts and iTunes Store account is not the same (considering that we are not from US). In iTunes store just hit Redeem iTunes Coupon and start create an account with fake US address (if u r going to create iTunes US account, on which will be the cheapest way then to do the iPod Touch January Software Update). And yeah the steps can easily followed from a guide stated on iPod Touch Upgrade thread in this forum.

Ok by doing that we can't use our credit cards for the transaction. So u need iTunes Store credit coupon.

mmm...there are various ways to get the coupon/credit. As for me, i get it from ebay as it is cheaper. But as for starter, it is recommended to get it from a person as it will be more convenient if there's any problem arise. Mmm...if the seller sells coupon code, then there's no need to create an account first as u can create it at the coupon redemption process in iTunes Store. Otherwise if they only transfer iTunes credit, u need to create a free account first.

hehehe...and of course after that if u need to top up more, just use the existing account.

yup, the free featured items still can be downloaded even if u have an empty account. and yeah, the coupon has its expiry date but once it gets redeemed on your account, it will not expired.

owww...by the way the free songs and tv shows are DRM'ed so you can't distribute the files as you like then. It still follows the rules of iTunes Store purchase items (eventhough it's free).

It's better that u create your iTunes account, and using it to do the January Software Update. Using an account in iTunes involving Machine Authorization (up to 5 machines). Also remember that contents downloaded from iTunes are locked to the account that u used.

So theoretically as you're borrowing an account, you need to do machine authorization, purchase and download the content, let the update doing its update on your iPod Touch, and then do machine deauthorization.

What if one day you need to do a full restore? Conflicts with 3rd party apps or usage for a very long time may require you to do a full restore. Maybe the patch will not be applied to the iPod Touch as the content of update is not authorized on that machine. So maybe you can't proceed to update the 5 applications on the iPod Touch unless you do again the machine authorization (which will again need the username and password that u borrowed).

So then it will be more convenient if u create an iTunes account for your usage. Besides of using it for that 20 bucks upgrade, u can download album cover arts and also free songs and tv shows.

While on playback, tap once on the album cover art when in portrait orientation (like u usually do to reveal extra control buttons). It will display lyrics on top of the album cover art.

maybe u need to get the iPhone instead. Haha...but still for now on iPod Touch, we can't edit Office's files, but they can already being viewed via attachment, and it also views PDF too. Also 3rd party app from jailbreak can do the trick (only PDF i think), but it used the same viewing engine as in attachment reader. Mmm...if u r deciding on the iPhone camp, the SDK will be coming soon which enables developers to create real applications. But of course it does come with price.

Sorry a bit of topic. But actually jailbroken iPod Touch already defeats its real purpose as a Portable Media Player, so then u can't expect that much from device that isn't destined to be a kind of PDA. Yup the functions are there but just don't bring much hopes for it. Ok jailbroken iPod Touch, but what's next? It isn't the thing we have to give much expectation. So if it's okay if u just wanna sync emails n doing some internet surfing at normal desktop level (except can't save files for download), then u r ok to go for iPod Touch. It's just an iPod dude, and it has already gone beyond its limit. But what i can say from previous stories of friends of mine, when they encounter this kind of dilemma (to iPod Touch or to buy other gadget), in the end they bought both. The other gadget for the intended purpose and the iPod Touch for the fun duty.
