I realised that the new firmware 2.0.1 has been released. But then i got my 2.0 firmware for free via steps taught in youtube, wanna consult u all will i be able to get the 2.0.1 firmware for free from itunes? Coz scared that they will detect that my firmware is not purchased from apple Help Help!!!

hi guys, newbie here..

would like to ask a noob question on behalf of my gf, for her ipod touch having sync prob since last week. she said the cable works fine as it still charging the battery, but when it comes to syncing, this is what itunes displays.. "the ipod cannot be synced,the required disk cannot be found"

is there anything i can do besides sending it to apple store? hope to hear some solutions from all apple masters here.

One thing is for sure is they can't detect that your firmware is not purchased from apple store..if the update is free from iTunes you'll definitely be able to update it..
but 2.0.1 can't be jailbreaked yet as far as i know..

Added on August 6, 2008, 7:13 pmHmm this is some common bug for iPod shuffle but haven't heard from iPod touch before..
well you can try switching to another USB port or change to a powered USB hub see if it helps..
make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes as well..

if the prob still exist..then try this..Drag and drop (or another possibility to add song into iPod) and then unplug the mouse, wait 1-2 seconds, and plug it again. This seem to be the pseudo-button which tells iTunes to start syncing.

Speaking of jailbreak, actually i don really understand what does it mean That day i upgrade my ipod touch firmware to 2.0 firmware. Does that mean i already jailbreak it? If i upgrade my firmware to 2.0.1 , does that mean i cannot install applications like "remote" , "tap tap" , "google" that types of 3rd party applications? Haha, Sry for asking noob questions coz i'm kinda new here ^^

Well when you upgrade your firmware it's not called jailbreaking..It's called updating your firmware..Jailbreak means you use a program to open up your iTouch and it'll enable you to install 3rd party applications from 'Installer' or 'Cydia'. One of these icon will appear after you jailbreak your system. Apps like remote, tap tap and google they're approved by Apple itself and not considered as open 3rd party applications..even after upgrading your firmware you'll still be able to install those apps..3rd party apps are those like 'Summerboard' ( Custom Theme Changer ) which only after you jailbreak you can install. Jailbreaking in other term is like hacking your iTouch..which if you don't know how to revert back to stock firmware will definitely void your warranty..

p/s: If you upgrade your firmware to 2.0 you'll have Appstore..where u can install applications..If you jailbreak your 2.0, you'll have Appstore and 'Cydia'.
By that time u can still install applications from Appstore and Cydia and i can say Cydia offers something you can't find from Appstore

Just finish jailbreaking and all with the 2.0firmware.
There isn't much update and application for cydia and installer tho.
Not so happy about it at di moment.
There will be an update real soon tho=)

I'm happy with 2.0 jailbroke. I downloaded a custom_restore.ipsw file from somewhere and used it. Works nice and now I've got a new bootpage.

wanna ask u all what kind of screen protectors did u all apply for ya Ipod touch? There are so many kind of SP on sale do i dunno which brand should i buy ~.~ Any brand of SP that can really anti- scratch coz i don wan to use silicone casing anymore, it makes my Ipod Touch looks ugly.

I'm using invisible shield..works like a charm but u have to understand all the instructions before installing

Basically with this winpwn thingy.YOu can make your own ipsw file or whatever.Custom of course.

hey , where do i get the ipod 2.0 restore file ? i download the winpwn but i can't seem to find the restore file online .

Check it on Youtube and search for firmware 2.0 ipod touch.Then look at the description,most of the video provide a link to download stuff that you want.

youtube is too slow now....just wanna ask , iphone firmware can be used with ipod touch a? cause when i restore the custom ispw .. i get an error (1) ..

Although they may seem similar, but the iPhone is more complicated in terms of software and such stuff in it. The iPhone custom_restore has MANY more unneeded stuff or different stuff from the iPod Touch custom_restore.

I found mine through one of them Youtube videos.

well it's quite easy to search via google..if you can't get it then it means you havent try hard enough
