Don't waste the money.. Just use until your headlamp becomes faded or yellowish which may take a few years.

When it turns yellowish, you can always get someone to sand it down, clean it and apply a new layer of UV clear coat for only RM100.

I did that on my 10 year old car and the headlamp looks as good as new. All these coating are rubbish to con your money.

Thanks for the heads up bro, but due to my work nature, my car always being exposed under hot sun, my previous car headlamp turned yellowish only within the period of 1-2 years, therefore I guess it’s a better idea to do PPF on the headlamp if it really does helps to prevent fading or yellowing.

just do it at any normal tint shop, price should be rm100 for lower quality(thin), around rm150 - 200 for thicker material, lasted more than a year for me(myvi) before stripping and applying a new ppf again.

Thicker ones are able to withstand stone chips.

rather save the money to change the headlamp cover in future..

ppf will help but wont last long, maybe another year or so before it become foggy and once if become foggy and u wanna treat the headlamp, ppf will need to be removed, hence = waste money.

yep another good solution, now is like ~200 per pcs cause old cover will get scratches anyway but not sure about the water proving part

You stick darkened color PPF ? IF yes I am not surprised because black tint absorb more heat, instead of protecting your headlight it does more harm.

Yes, owned a few Toyota with plastic headlamps and they all had this issue. I notice other cars from different brands of similar age don't have this issue.

Do not mistake PPF and tint. They are 2 different product. I am not surprised if some company sell tint as PPF. So at RM100-150, it is definitely tint or cheap PPF.

PPF have 2 type, made with PVC and made with polyurethane (PU). Those made with PVC are cheap and will turn yellow. Those made with PU will not turn yellow so easily (again depend on it's quality).

PPF mainly is to protect against stone chip. I am not sure how well it will last in terms of making the headlamp go yellow or if it will darken like tint.

I just installed mine PPF (cheap) few weeks ago. Later will install the PU type in another car. My DIY experiment on headlamp restoration.

I have also one done spray clear coat and so on. Only time will tell how each perform.

If your concern is just turning yellow or dull, just get it restored with 2k clear paint (or colored) when it's dull. Every car already comes with factory seal on the headlight.

Edit; another example from my research, Oraguard is a famous PPF brand sold in Malaysia. Among the many models they sold, there are 270 and 280. Model 270 is PVC base and model 280 is PU based. However, online is only selling model 270. I am not sure if this apply to outside shops where they only use model 270. So if you are paying high price for PPF, make sure they are using PU based material and have warranty against turning yellow.

I did PPF for my headlamps at G Guard, Glenmarie, for less than 300. PPF from the brand Xpel, which will supposedly stop your lamps from becoming yellow

So far so good, no yellowing. Nothing gotten past the PPF so far to damage the lamps
