My new PC is also well prepared for new windows, pc health checks all pass.

Since windows update didn't show anything new, I just wait for the signal to come, no hurry to hop on buggy windows.

Recently read an article windows 11 serious impact on SSD Nvme read/write speed compare to windows 10

Any update on that?

I am using SSD Nvme GEN4 for my win10 now where cold boot only take seconds hmm.gif

Doesn't notice any speed different from cold boot now compare to last time when on Win 10.
Benchmark on my 3 years old drive, still get good speed.

it's affecting the random write and only on the drive with OS, I think is the OS bug itself

thinking of upgrading manually this weekend(the auto update never come in) hmm.gif random write isn't much big issue right? I only use Nvme for OS, nothing else is stored there

Looks like MS found out what's the problem is, the fix only coming on next year. But honestly when using, I didn't notice any slow down compare to before when use Win 10

Yeah, I see the news, I'm still struggling to update it via assistant updater or keep on waiting for the update signal

everything is running so fine in win10 now, am I looking for trouble? whistling.gif

My PC also can't update using the assistant. Something somewhere corrupt until no matter which method to update, all still fail. I end up delete the drive partition and do fresh install on new partition.

I won't say one is better than another, both have it's plus and minus. Win 11 wear makeup and have fancy animation, but at the cost of more processing power.

That's why until now I still not try manually update yet, my PC more than capable to handle it, PC is just a month old, everything is fresh, patched to latest Win10-21H2, just the W11 update signal never come...

Isn't everyone know any PC can run windows 11 if you can run Win10 by using the media creation kit, except that not qualify PC won't get the updates.

8GB is minimum these days, you need at least 16GB for everything to be smooth.

You can roll back to windows 10 within 7 days I think but eventually, you need to upgrade to windows 11, service end on 2025 October

There is no guarantee windows 11 upgrade will still be free or you plan to change new pc within these 3 years?

4GB is actually doable (after all the base Surface Go has only 4GB RAM), but you definitely want SSD/eMMC storage otherwise the OS will feel very unresponsive icon_idea.gif

4GB for office use still bearable, for gaming? Nah
but 1 point is very true, nowadays not using SSD/eMMC, however much RAM you put in, your system still slow down significantly
