QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Nov 10 2021, 05:20 PM) You need to install both. One from Microsoft which Windows update will solve it. thanks for the link - most helpfulAnother you need to get from AMD website. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-40...5PcTy3JX1m_v1Rk Andrewtst liked this post

hi guys, i want to find out if i do the following scenario:
1. Install windows 11 upgrade 2. Sign up for windows insider to get the beta 22h2 3. Leave the preview channel but continue to run the beta 22h2 4. Later the final 22h2 released to public. Q = Do i need to reinstall the OS when the final 22h2 is out or windows 11 update will just upgrade my copy to the final release? Thanks in advance! QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Aug 17 2022, 06:59 PM) Your step is correct and once final is out, it will update it and no reinstall is required. Thanks for the reply, will give 22h2 a tryBut make sure you select Beta Channel not Dev Channel as Dev Channel will not able upgrade to final or downgrade to Beta channel. Reinstall is required if from Dev Channel to Beta / Final. Andrewtst liked this post

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 23 2022, 02:03 AM) Finally, I decide to clean installed and now I can confirm the Windows 11 22H2 Final build is 22621.521 i also upgraded via ISO from the preview build. may do a clean install later. now deciding if i should upgrade from win10 for my main notebook and desktop. the final 22h2 is not bad and solve many of the annoyance i had with the release win11. however some still persist like the taskbar display open prog icons grouping it together and the restricted start menu - why not allow us to resize the start - so annoying when you have a big ass monitor and the start menu is cacat with a few rows This is straight installed from ISO but during installation I choose option to let it auto check update. ![]() This post has been edited by kitman: Sep 23 2022, 11:12 AM |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 23 2022, 01:57 PM) Release Preview can upgrade but I at Beta build which is newer than final, so currently only have option clean install with keep data and settings. All apps need to reinstall. 😅 currently windows 11 running on my laptop with 1080p. clean install is the best - i norm prefer that if its a major update but i might be too lazy and just live with it for 22h2 Start Menu I am OK now as it can reduce recommendation and I find it just look nice in 1440p in 100% scales. I just hope it can drag the taskbar to others location. Also hope can right click application open recent doc. |

QUOTE(westlife @ Mar 2 2023, 09:04 AM) i agree on some of UI being a step back from win10. the start button is the worse - the grid shortcut to apps is so limited, looks silly when you have high res screen. either you dig through the menu or use search where prev you can pin as much as you like at the start menu. some of the key menu uses tiny icon - like the copy paste cut on right click on the desktop... the cacat windows explorer, to create new folder you need to click the new icon where as prev you have dedicated icon. but the tab feature is nice. the taskbar - no ungroup function and limited right click function. not to mention the privacy issue where MS is collecting data more aggressively vs win7/10. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Mar 29 2023, 08:19 PM) but have you seen the start menu on a big monitor say 32inch? its sad and small. why can't ms allow us to resize the menu to show more icons? anyway can try to improve some of the function using explorer patch, at least can ungroup open windows on the taskbar, return taskbar right click menu to its full glory and also revert windows11 cacat right click menu to windows10 style. much more usable... |

QUOTE(PJng @ Mar 29 2023, 11:27 AM) ya can use shortcut keys but still removing the convenient new folders icon on the toolbar makes no sense why create more steps to do simple tasks? This post has been edited by kitman: Mar 29 2023, 11:51 PM |

i know about the alternative you posted
the point is, there are different ways to do a task under win7/10, you can click on the ribbon bar icon, you can click on the menu bar, you can use keyboard shortcut, you can right click and menu dive but in win11, it is a step back to take some of these away or bury it with more mouse click etc. if these changes was good, win11 22h2 will not need to add back some of the ui changes. i like many things in win11 like the tab file explorer and the eye candy but there is no denying the start/taskbar revamp is a step back compared to win7/10. QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Apr 25 2023, 09:46 AM) does anyone knows how to ungroup the taskbar icons in Win11? if you ok to use 3rd party mod, can try "explorer pathcher". search youtube and see if it is what you want.got forced to update over the weekend and at the moment, my WinOS experience is shiet. really surprised how Microsoft can successfully eff up the subsequent versions further than its predecessors. |

QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Apr 25 2023, 11:28 AM) are these 3rd party mods legit? mod like explorer patch - not sure how safe it is but with so many users - so far no complain it is unsafe. i am not familiar with other start replacement software like open shell, stardock start11, startallback etc.am asking because this is on my company's laptop so plenty of P&C stuffs here - don't want to risk it. at the moment, not having the opened applications displayed in the taskbar is really hampering productivity. how can Microsoft's design team be so retarded. Since it is company laptop - best to check with your IT which the standard answer is likely "no, you cannot install". I guess you are stuck with grouped taskbar. I also hate this grouping and using icons, should have left this to users choice. |

QUOTE(shaniandras2787 @ Apr 25 2023, 03:13 PM) the thing is, i failed to see how "grouping" tabs together is an improvement to quality of life especially in work place where individual tends (some need) to have multiple tabs open simultaneously and need to keep them opened. yup... not to mention the tiny start menu on large high res monitor, very cacat. in windows 10 we can resize it by dragging it up and right showing more tiles, now we are stuck with the useless tiny grid. windows used to be highly customizable out of the box but it is getting more and more retarded.their retarded design team probably do it to declutter the home page but most PC users now have a relatively large monitors now so real estate isn't an issue - why is there a freaking need to do so. I cannot brain. does the Windows design team still uses a 15" monitor? |
