I really doubt Microsoft will force TPM 2.0 due to an overwhelming majority of machines do not support TPM 2.0, or even TPM in general, which creates problems as Windows 10 will not be supported in about 4 years, and rendering potentially millions of well performing machines into ewaste because of some arbitrary limitation isn't going to be very well received in the community. You can still run Windows 10 on decade old hardware and it will run just fine sweat.gif

There's still plenty of machines (and some of them are about 10 years old) that are still very performant (see Sandy Bridge CPUs), and I don't see why those machines can't run Windows 11 icon_idea.gif

Forcing TPM 2.0 (or TPM in general) as an artificial limitation is going to severely limit adoption amongst home or even business machines due to low implementation of proper TPM, and Microsoft isn't going to like this as their new OS will end up having very slow adoption, like Vista icon_idea.gif

I'm pretty sure Microsoft will drop the requirement sooner or later, or at the very least make TPM or Secure Boot as an optional, but recommended requirement icon_idea.gif

The forced Secure Boot requirement is not going to be well received for those who dual boots Linux and Windows sweat.gif

On another note however, it would be just a matter of time people started making tools that removes this requirement by patching the ISO, but I think this is not something people want to do (myself included) icon_idea.gif

Hahah is okay bro, have to accept the fact
I guess my laptop have TPM, just no idea where it is
As for desktop don't think support TPM as is 4th gen intel CPU laugh.gif

And Windows 11 haven't release yet, still have some time to figure it out where the TPM in bios bruce.gif

It might be interesting to see Microsoft may drop this requirement sooner or later (or at the very least become an optional requirement), because a low adoption of Windows 11 is going to be bad for the company itself, and the enterprise market is not going to like those requirements either icon_idea.gif

On top andrew already posted it how to do so laugh.gif
Ya true, if they are not going to do, I foresee this windows 11 will be failure like vista and 8 whistling.gif
As a lot people say, every 2 windows OS sure got popular and not popular one icon_idea.gif
XP (popular) > vista (not popular) > 7 (popular) > 8  (not popular) > 10 (popular) > 11 (??)
*
Come to think of it, if Microsoft actually enforced such requirements, it will lead to low adoption of the OS, and it will be just a matter of time where the tech press will start writing articles claiming Windows 11 has slow adoption rates over Windows 10 or something similar, painting Microsoft in a bad light laugh.gif

The OS hasn't been completed and there might be more changes within the system in the coming months, so there might be a possibility that Microsoft may drop this requirement icon_idea.gif

So far it is smoother than Windows 10 for me.
A bit more feature rich.

I have been running Windows 11 in a VM - the OS works fine and stable (for a VM that is), but functionality seems to have taken a step back IMHO (quite a lot of useful features have been taken out compared to Windows 10) sweat.gif

Disappointing when you consider that there's plenty to like about the OS itself sweat.gif

Those take out is only the Taskbar features. The Taskbar I only wish future can move to top or side, other like drag to Taskbar I never use and don't care so much. Beside this Taskbar thing, I don't see others reduce functionality compare with Windows 10.

But instead it is added better feature in Microsoft Photo, Snipping Tools, and future Paint which not release yet but Microsoft already showing demo on it. I believe more features will added on for Windows 11 bundle apps but it is no going to release for Windows 10 anymore.

Also File Explorer and Context Menu is much cleaner and not crowded, this is better and handy to use.

Auto HDR in gaming is work for some SDR games make it pop, not all type of SDR games but no worried as anytime you can turn off for SDR games that not work properly. Beside gaming, HDR is working much much better in Windows 11.

Lastly the open apps is always stick to position, this is very useful for multi monitor. The nightmare of open apps won't stick to it position and open size is finally fixed.

Windows 11 simply great and I definitely won't go back to Windows 10 anymore.

I'm somewhat miffed by Microsoft decision to nerf the right clicking functionality of the OS along with some functionality regressions (especially the taskbar right click menus and the context menus in some parts of the OS) sweat.gif
It's also quite disappointing that Microsoft decided to ship the OS with a good chunk of the advertised features being unavailable on launch (specifically the Android app support) - it feels like Microsoft just rushed the OS in some ways or another to capitalize on the holiday buying season, and it's quite inappropriate as well due to the circumstances we are on right now (the severe chip shortage is one of them). The miscommunication about the hardware requirements is going to leave a bad taste on a lot of PC users mouth sweat.gif

The OS is fine (it's actually good if Microsoft didn't nerf the usability of the OS itself), but the way how Microsoft handled the communications and launch seems to give me Windows 8 flashbacks sweat.gif

That's pretty nice to say the least, and I hope that monitor makers can finally put out some well priced monitors with decent HDR capabilities (the good ones are either ridiculously expensive, or simply plagued with copious QC issues) sweat.gif
HDR is a reason why I sometimes play on consoles despite having a gaming PC myself tongue.gif

hardware requirements is too high and many hardware to change followed by re purchase of OEM licenses.........hope they change their minds

I have a feeling that they are going to u-turn on this sooner or later because slow adoption of the OS itself is going to lead to media painting the OS in a bad light (see Vista and 8 for starters) icon_idea.gif

Forcing people to upgrade or even buying new hardware just to upgrade to the latest version of Windows is going to be a PR nightmare for Microsoft as well because:

1. it exacerbates the already severe chip shortage
2. it goes against Microsoft (and other tech companies) 'sustainability' charter
3. its going to force PC enthusiast to stay on Windows 10, or even Linux (note that Linux is starting to become a very viable platform for desktops, and PC enthusiasts are quite vocal) icon_idea.gif

I think mod need to create a subforum for Windows 11 for the incoming release date. Btw is 5th Oct going to be a release for official version? I am not subscribed to Beta channel though, just want to install it clean. I think Windows 10 key will be suffice?
*
Yup, that's the release date, and I think you should be able to update with a Windows 10 key (might be even possible to activate with a Windows 7/8.1 key, just like Windows 10) icon_idea.gif

I have a feeling Microsoft may backtrack from their system requirements, because of the enterprise market:

Those who want a better functioning taskbar and start menu should get Start11/StartIsBack (there might be free options from OpenShell, aka forked Classic Shell) icon_idea.gif

Maybe yes maybe no, when talk security concern, enterprise will accept current condition talk. Even not they is always a special agreement can be sign for Enterprise which allow special security update treatment support for EOL system.

IINM companies can buy ESU updates, but I think it needs Volume Licensing and it's meant for large businesses, governments and schools that need to run some kind of specialized software or some sort hmm.gif

Hi guys, just upgrade to win 11 few days ago can I roll back win10? After upgrade found out it required higher ram and if I open higher video settings in dota2 same as previous it lag ...currently my laptop running 4gb X2
*
Are you on integrated graphics or an AMD based system? Note that Windows 11 is basically a reskinned Windows 10 (at this moment) so RAM usage should be the same (if not slightly more) icon_idea.gif

8GB is minimum these days, you need at least 16GB for everything to be smooth.

You can roll back to windows 10 within 7 days I think but eventually, you need to upgrade to windows 11, service end on 2025 October

There is no guarantee windows 11 upgrade will still be free or you plan to change new pc within these 3 years?
*
4GB is actually doable (after all the base Surface Go has only 4GB RAM), but you definitely want SSD/eMMC storage otherwise the OS will feel very unresponsive icon_idea.gif

Just that Microsoft do not guarantee that, may anytime stop support and stop gib updates

Yup, but knowing Microsoft they will likely won't stopping those 'unsupported' machines from getting updates anytime soon tongue.gif

A little heads up, future versions of Windows 11 Pro may require you to use a Microsoft Account (may change anytime):

https://www.windowscentral.com/windows-11-p...ting-first-time

That's not good for the business/enterprise, and it's even worse for those who installs Windows on a regular basis (like PC repair shops) sweat.gif

Did you install the latest GPU drivers and the Ryzen cache latency fix? (if you are on Ryzen) There is a known performance issue on Windows 11 regarding Ryzen CPUs hmm.gif

Like the Windows is not activated message it probably won't take long where people managed to circumvent this watermark laugh.gif

Also it might not made it to the final version as it is in testing:
