Try this from github if you want bring back win10 taskbar, win10 explorer "ribbon" interface, win10 right click menu/alt tab menu and more

https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher

Warning: for advanced user only, use at own risk, because will require restarting explorer.exe sometimes

Anyone know if my computer running secure boot or not? If off, how to re-enable it?
tpm.msc and Win Security show have TPM but sysinfo show secure boot is off. Drive partition using UEFI.

user posted image

Things I tried, but still remain same.
Clear TPM at tpm.msc and reboot.
Clear TPM and then Prepare the TPM, before reboot.
Clear TPM in BIOS.
Disable fTPM in BIOS, restart to Windows, reboot back to BIOS and re-enabled fTPM.

I thought it might be because previously when BIOS failed to run due to bad RAM timing, it revert to backup BIOS and when Windows start it show some security settings and need to log in account online. When I clear or disable TPM in BIOS, it will also show the security prompt when Windows start.
*
Go into bios advanced setup, look for boot option, turn off CSM (legacy) mode then can on secure boot

GG the loophole to bypass MS EDGE enforcement is closed on this patch

this patch will coming to stable (all win11 users) later this month.

let's see this space for new bypass of MS EDGE

https://www.theregister.com/2021/11/11/late...ces_edge_links/

edit: new possible bypass here in case it comes to your device https://github.com/rcmaehl/MSEdgeRedirect by the developer of WhyNot11

Recently bought a 1440p 144hz monitor for my personal laptop. When i connect the monitor to the laptop with the included hdmi cable, i couldn't select to drive the monitor with GPU and i cant select 144hz refresh rate.
I tried to select performance mode in the nvidia control panel as suggested by many on the internet but still cant connect the monitor to the gpu. It is always using the integrated graphics instead.
I also tried to update the drivers but no luck.

I am using acer aspire 15 with MX250 gpu in it.

This is actually a little bit out topic since already cover the hardware limitations of laptop ifself

The consumer grade non-gaming laptop usually only have hdmi 1.4. There’s no display port neither dedicated or using type c alt mode.

You will have to live with hardware limitations of your laptop and hopefully in the future you can get a new gaming laptop that supports hdmi 2.0 or display port (some gaming laptops have dedicated display port) or type c alt mode that can output display port, some gaming laptop can allow monitor to direct connect to dedicated graphics

my win 11 with firefox memory issue.

Are you on Intel igpu

Maybe driver bugs cause DWM desktop compositor to CPU spike and memory leak

This may cause extra battery drain (faster to drain) and make dwm itself consume unreasonably high memory

Possible way to fix this with driver updates from intel website
BETA driver from intel website
edit : wrong quote
edit 2: beta driver solved dwm issues, if you mind about installing beta driver, final version is coming soon

notice that your dwm is normal. so can eliminate the intel issue.

maybe try to create another clean firefox profile to try

maybe update or even reinstall ff

or maybe try to troubleshoot it yourself, see whether is cause by some bad extensions

If Firefox is using an unexpected amount of RAM, report a bug to bugzilla website by following the steps below:

Open about:memory?verbose in a new tab.

Click Measure and save...

Attach the memory report to a new bug

Paste your about:support info (Click Copy text to clipboard) to your bug.

Looks like MS found out what's the problem is, the fix only coming on next year. But honestly when using, I didn't notice any slow down compare to before when use Win 10
*
The November preview will be included in December patch Tuesday update as well. No need to wait next year

The so call bug fix preview for December is not coming but since updates are cumulative there will still be November bug fix together with December security fix for Tuesday

The third ever security only patch for windows 11 original release (for all channels except dev)

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/d...42-d95c794bebf0

Please note that this patch is cumulative. So it also includes preview patch from last month.

This month no preview patch later for Beta/RP/release channel due to holidays

Too bad even after November/December patch the ssd performance issues is NOT completely resolved as reported by some

Isn't everyone know any PC can run windows 11 if you can run Win10 by using the media creation kit, except that not qualify PC won't get the updates.
*
Not qualify pc for now still can get updates

Just that Microsoft do not guarantee that, may anytime stop support and stop gib updates

updated to 22h2 22621.521 with uupdump created ISO (pre-updated with 521 patch)

but .net patch KB5017026 failed to install

as i direct use upgrade path (keep files and apps), however some thing got resetted like my win update gpe policy and driver update make ms install the old audio driver which i have to manually install audio driver again

Explorer patcher works, but some is broken. I resetted the settings and revert back to win11 style taskbar and explorer bar (preparing for next month tabs update)
If on win 10 taskbar, battery icon and wifi icon click on it will do nothing other than crash the backend
can only use win11 start menu (no more win10 style live tiles), cannot hide recommend, as ms add setting to adjust the shortcut/recommend ratio

overall some improvement but still feels like half baked for me right now

intel nuc kena safeguard hold because intel own smart sound driver BSOD problem with 22h2

anyway Beta channel now testing Moment 2 feature drop, so build number bump to 22623

https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2...-and-22623-730/

22622 = Moment 1 kinda confirmed, we might get bump to that next month
