why you say normal car no need? if got chance to pump in premium oil why dont want... better performance for the car why not... if got $$ anything is possible.. its just that we dont get the premium oil here inside the country la.. even got $$ unless go overseas buy la.. crazy meh!!

You bodo kah?
RON itself is one of the indicative of quality along side EURO. I don't understand your train of thought, Oil =/= Fuel
Plus you'll need HIGHER RON only if your manufacturer recommends it. Higher RON prevents knocking/pre-detonation which also can be prevented by detuning the engine.

Also you don't know shiat, Aussies using RON 91 with Euro 3 spec until 2027 in which they'll transition to Euro 5.

You do know that one of the Companies that's selling RON100 is Petron that has their refinery in PD,N9. Further, due to the slump in crude oil prices we've been using our own Crude Oils. Other than BHP/Caltex, which uses base stock from singapore, most use locally refined crudes. Even BHP uses gasoline from Petronas for the East Cost distribution.

Our Tapis is essentially sweet crude in which sulphur content is relatively lower than other crudes (Less processes needed to remove sulphur content)

ben300 this unker get his facts from fb/whatsapp

SOS : worked with Downstream.

inb4 sulphur is actually great for the engine as it act as a lubricant. Too bad it burns off to make SOx

More important to is service your engine regularly (recommended service interval)
*
For proton & perodua and mostly japanese marques yes.

But with Euro, recommending oil changes at 15k km. Especially with those smaller engines that has turbos, it'll degrade the engine oil at a much faster rate.

Heck, even for our protons cvts, its recommended to do half interval for fluid changes.

Fluids are cheap, Engine/tranny aren't

Semi 10W40 or Fully Syn?

I saw the price for Mizu went up already by a lot, last time around RM 40. Now RM 60 and rated API SP. Feels like they trying to compete with international brands

Bold semi syn 10w40 4L is only RM 38, with 13k 5 star reviews on Shopee lol

Semi, agree mizu went up by 50%

Probably will go with morrisons next

Dude I'm driving less than 1k km for the past half year. Plus my car takes 6 quarts of oil.

few mechanic that i met were suggesting me not to do overhaul for my minor leaking kelisa engine
they recommend to use high viscosity oil instead, some even recommend to use engine oil made for diesel engine.  biggrin.gif
