Hi Guys,

Hoping that someone have similar experience can give advice T_T

I am having around 5 years experience of being programmer , first few years I was working in a market research company for creating online survey , and recently I just quitted and join another company work as .net dev ,

To be honest when I graduated last time , I cincai find 1 job as I wanna explore and looking for what I really passionate , but try try then already reach 30 years old ... cry.gif

and until today only I wanna change my career path as I don't really want to code anymore...

Trying to look for business analysis job but failed 2-3 interview already puke.gif

Should I try to get MBA before continue to look for business analysis job , or go for PMI training and test to be a PM?

Any experienced sifu can give advice how programmer can change career path if don't want to code forever? sad.gif

I doubt an MBA will really help you in this case.
I would suggest you try to look for team lead / scrum master or related position if you wanna move out from doing technical stuff.

For the PMI, either PMP or CAPM will require you to have project experience.

If you're looking to more of a BA job, then study up on six sigma or lead methodology. I am doing something similar now.

You need to know what is process mapping, as-is and to-be process flows, creating KPI metrics and use & present that data to provide insights to the business.
My whole day revolves around calls with different teams to work out their process, how to achieve STP, drawing process maps, and working with IT for solution design, UAT & deployment.

I find it pretty boring but heck, it pays well.

Well, I've been to many interviews, passed many but failed even more. I'm 31 years old this year, and I'm in my 4th company so far.
For BA jobs, you'll be very much involved in end-to-end of a project, so they'll start asking about each part of the project lifecycle.
Ie. prioritization, user requirements (process maps, fishbone), solution design (feasibility study, as-is & to-be flows), deployment, UAT (how to write test cases), and maintenance.

Maybe read up on those topics, I think it'll come in handy because many of the interviews I attended asks those questions.

if your company has a BA role available, I suggest you to start transition to the role within the company first.

Start by nitty gritty things such as preparing test cases, testing the system, coordinating UAT / Deployment, meeting with end users, preparing proposal and documentations.

Currently my company size is quite small and they splited BA task to sales ( meeting with end users, preparing proposal and documentations. ) and programmer (testing the system, coordinating UAT / Deployment) and don't have exact ba role... while test like cincai by programmer for now without prepare test case ..haha. sweat.gif Try my best to learn little and little before I can fly bye.gif

can consider to change company as a Programmer first, but make sure the new company is more structured and have a proper BA & workflow in place.

From there, as you stable down and familiar with their system as Programmer, you may start to request to transition / learn BA roles.

Might not be as straight-forward, but at least it is a good starting point. Just my 2 cents for your considerations. rclxm9.gif

hi i think can pivot into PM role..

Try get a PM job first before taking your CAPM or PMP...

Experience better than education...

Im taking my CAPM atm, you dont really need experience, just need 23 hours of PM education...the official PMI project mgmt course is around RM1500...fulfills the requirements...
