Confinement definitely needed because the mother need to heal the body after the delivery.

Confinement center as necessity ? well I didn't experienced this. During my time, I hired the confinement lady + help by my own mother.

Only the last 5~6 years only the trend of confinement center is picking up because it is hard to get the reliable & good confinement lady especially at the major cities ( most of the good confinement ladies are pre-booked by Singaporean).

During our parent time, usually the confinement was helped by the elderly staying in the same house. Nowadays, family are getting smaller, nucleus family no longer stays with the elderly, hence the exposure to the confinement is getting lesser. A lot young family now need to rely only the confinement lady, if they could not get the confinement lady, the last resort will be going to the confinement center.
