Nowadays most TV sold is an android TV. Can it stream video natively or still require a TV box?

its basically as if the tv had a built in android tv box, so yes, you can use it directly

most android tv come with netflix, youtube. if you are using a third parties iptv then u need to check if your tv app can support
their playlist.
Those who already have a playlist would need to know how to setup the iptv app

Also, you should probably power it from a cigarette/accessory socket car charger, since the USB ports built into car players are usually only expected to power a low power USB drive, not a tv stick

My thread is still alive

More than 2 years on, my Mi Stick is starting to give hiccups. Netflix and Disney/Hotstar is slow to start at times, and likes to exit to main screen sometimes. When its OK, its OK. When its not, then it keeps quitting or slow loading. Sometimes need to restart a few times.

Today was even better, it connected to my router but says no internet. I had to turn on and off the wifi a few times before it was ok.

Any suggestions? Or is it one leg in the grave?

Probably cache already accumulated until device starting jadi pening and slow....
Actually the fix is very easy.....just factory reset it....install everything back....

As it turns out, the wifi issue is caused by a new router. Seems its pretty common, you can google "Mi Stick connected but no internet". Got to fiddle with the wifi channel settings on the router.

I'm using HBO Go lately, working fine too lol. I think netflix needs to clear data or reinstall

other than Mi TV Stick 4K, is there any other better Android TV Stick now in the market?

yes the tv stick probably will not last forever
I have both mi tv box and tv stick 4k, the tv box got problem connecting to wifi after 2 years and it can only connect to internet through USB LAN cable

can recommend the brand?

Why buy tv stick or tv box. Now a day most house hold have got smart tv.
Just buy a smart tv android or google tv.

With a smart tv you have what a tv box or stick bring to you all within the tv
