Well if support is thrown behind Hamas, the support is for everything Hamas does both good and bad. Unfortunately their bad causes a lot of suffering.
Problem is many Palestinians supported Hamas and their rockets, especially early 21st century.

Plus Hamas won majority in elections previously. If majority of Palestinians are against what Hamas does, how did Hamas win the majority in elections previously? This part is confusing.
Did those that vote for Hamas want the violence, or they didn't know Hamas were using militant and extremist methods?

I am actually sympathetic of the Palestinian people but they elected Hamas to be Thier government. When the people elect a bad government, the people suffer, irregardless of what we do here.

From my reading, many Palestinians become disillusioned with Palestinian Authorities (PA) becoz they riddled with corruption that partly contribute to Palestinians suffering as well. Hence Hamas gained popularity and came in power at Gaza while PA still runs West Bank (barely functional).
