Hi all, I am currently considering Sony X85J 65 inches over the Samsung AU9000 65 inches? I have a Samsung HWQ-950A soundbar which is why I am thinking of pairing it up with a Samsung tv for the Q Symphony functionality. Currently own a Samsung tv but exploring Sony tvs as well. Mainly use it for streaming Dolby Atmos contents using Netflix. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Dec 14 2021, 03:09 PM) Dolby Vision (HDR) or Dolby Atmos (sound effect)? Dolby Atmos because I know Samsung TV don't support Dolby Vision and also these TVs are not high end enough to take advantage of Dolby Vision.

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Dec 14 2021, 09:18 PM) I see. I thought you're talking about X85J TV and Dolby vision support. I have a lower end Hisense TV with Dolby Vision and I still enjoy it despite not gonna be bright enough to do so convincingly. It doesn't pop like Samsung but that doesn't mean there's no difference. I did some comparison before settling for X90J. I even looked at X85J which is quite similar but it's just slightly less bright in hdr mode. X90J has FALD and newer XR image processing. Other than these, both are quite similar. I also looked at Samsung and then wonder why do you choose AU9000 over said Q60A? Price difference is not much and Q60A should be brighter with its dual led backlight. This is because you are considering X85J which should be priced between Q60A~Q80A. Thanks for your comments. I got a good price in Lazada for the Sony X85J just slightly more than the Samsung AU9000. However after shopping further I have now ordered Samsung Q65AB as got good price RM 4.6k and got RM 200 free touch and go e credits. Do you know what is the difference between Q60A and Q65AB as I am trying to find out but can't seem to find out the differences. Yes I saw at the shop and the Samsung Q65A is brighter and much clearer better definition compared to the Samsung AU9000.

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Dec 15 2021, 02:40 PM) My sister is working in Samsung TV dept but she isnt very knowledgeable in technical. She was told the older model is better too but was not told why. I also not sure since you cant really find much info on web. If anything I can only suspect the panel. While doing research for X90J, I came across a couple youtubers that kept mentioning 2021 is the death of 4K QLED. They kept mentioning Samsung and even Sony switched their lower midrange from VA to ADS (aka IPS equivalent) panel. Samsung did it with QN85 series which is not cheap btw and certain sizes (namely 43") of X85J also uses ADS/IPS panel. You mean which older model is better ya? I thought VA is better than IPS correct since VA should be brighter?

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Dec 15 2021, 03:24 PM) Tradeoff between both. VA has better contrast, while IPS has better viewing angle. Since reviews love to compare black levels, of course, prefer VA. My office just bought a 50" Samsung AU7000 for CCTV monitoring and truthfully, off angle really sucks. Washed out color and only can see a wall of bright light. Which Samsung models you looked at before you purchased the X90J? Yeah I was looking at the AU series for Samsung also then the sales guy told me better top up a bit get Qled as the screen brighter and much better definition and I saw the difference also when I went to the showroom. I liked the Sony X85J also very nice but I bought Samsung TV mainly to pair with my Samsung HWQ-950A soundbar so that I can have Q Symphony.
