Thinking to get ethernet adapter for my Sony TV KD-X85L. USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter can be used and only RTL8153 chipset compatible instead of AX88179 chipset. There are plenty of RTL8153 chipset Ethernet Network Adapter from cheap around RM20 up to TP-link UE300 more than RM80. Anyone using those cheap but reliable one? Or must go for brand one?

Yes of course but limited to 100mbps only.

There’s already an Ethernet input on the TV, isn’t it?

Unifi 800mbps? same as my package. Good to know. Yes found out also UE330 work from reddit and that got extra USB ports to use from this. I think I better not take risk and stick to TP-Link despite found out some generic RTL8153 chipset USB to Ethernet Network Adapter but not sure workable not to TV.

Works fine with my XR-A80L

I bought Sony 65X85L early December from TBC Setia Alam RM4,799+1,064 extended warranty (2+3)=RM5,863.

You may not able to find any Sony products in TBC because they sell most on others such as Samsung, Hisense etc. Found that price of Samsung not cheap. Since I bought before from them, just ask their branch manager to quote me. Surprisingly quite cheap from them. You may need to wait bit because they need to take stock from Sony.

X85L spec better than X85K such as local dimming etc. For me X85L definitely choice. Size of TV you may need to measure the TV distance for better viewing.

Hi all, Got an offer from senheng for 75" X85K around rm6.4k. Is this a good deal or should I go for a 65' X85L for around 5k quoted?

Bought USB 3.0 (RTL-8153 ) to RJ45 1000mbps Gigabit Lan Adapter from Shopee at RM20.92 (after discount RM5 shop voucher) n deducted coins further with final paid is RM15.69. It work well for my 65X85L at speedtest around 700mbps (unifi 800mbps). Speed wise slightly below my other devices Laptop or Nvidia shield tv which most can get Max speed of 800mpbs.

Reset to factory to monitor. You no need to send the TV urself right? Give Sony CS call they will come check.

Ohya any device connect to TV which HDMI-CEC controlled? If that device sleep, all will be affected too.

Anyway hope not big issue facing for you.

Small TV can carry but big one hard. If spoil during delivery then how? Just give Sony call to ask.

Watching tv yesterday nite. Same prob still happens. It just powered off by itself.

I haven’t done the factory reset yet.

Now I saw that there is a software update available. I try to update and see if it helps.

Not sure if I need to send back to Sony service centre myself or they can come on site to see? Previously my 10 years old 50-inch full hd lcd tv I sent back to service centre myself to fix. Two times also due to lightning strike. First time was within the warranty period which it got fixed for free. Second time no more warranty and I wanted to fix also could not Becos motherboard was spoiled and no more spare part for this old model of tv. So the tv turned out to be a trash and I left it at the service centre without collecting back. Sony service centre does offer 20% off to buy at current tv at retail price, can redeem the voucher for this.

Ended up I bought my this 55-inch oled a80j at rm4999 last year during promo period which was a good deal I would say. Brand new and bought from sony malaysia online.

I only have ps4 and ps3 connected to it. Is it a cause to that? But both of them were not on. All on standby only.

I also hope it is not a major prob. Lazy to get it fixed even within warranty period.

Nowadays TV no guarantee can last after warranty. Next time get those for 2+3 warranty one for peace of mind.

Has anyone experienced a screen problem with a Sony TV?

I have a 55" Sony X80L, purchased in July 2023. Recently, the screen suddenly went black even after I tried the troubleshooting steps recommended on Sony’s website. I contacted Sony customer service, and their technician confirmed it’s a screen issue that requires replacement, which will cost almost RM1,000.

The issue happened just after my warranty expired in July 2025—barely 2 month past the coverage. I appealed to Sony, but they informed me that their policy is very strict and does not allow for warranty claims after expiry.

It’s quite disappointing, as I expected better from a reputable brand like Sony. My old Philips TV has been running for nearly 6 years with no problems, but this Sony TV is already facing major issues after just 2 years.
