Hi guys, newbie in folding bike. (1 months only)
Currently i am using Raleigh Calypso Aloy 7 gears (shimano) all standard without any modification.
I noticed that during cruising (flat surface) high gear only get around 25km/h.  My level la... am not pro. Haha
Am considering to upgrade to Dahon Visc D18 or P20 soon. (because of its look and spec).

My question is.. how fast (kmh) can i expect to get with Dahon VISC? no modification.
Hope sifus here can help me because am highly considering that bike,
*
being able to hit that speed on such gearing, still call yourself newbie?

i'm recording about an average 20KM/HR on my default tern D9. Are there anything that i can do to go faster?
*
put on a cadence sensor and check what's your average cadence first. perhaps you're not pedalling fast enough.

personally i average at 75rpm at flat cruising and that's my balanced effort, anything more i would tire out very quickly.

but apparently to many other cyclists, that is just relaxing makan angin rpm and told me i should get at least 90rpm constantly if i wish to get higher avg speed

It's just like a speedometer on cars. Little gadget that displays your riding speed, distance, time etc

I use bluetooth earbuds. No worries about unable to hear traffic, still can hear. So far so good.

I bought this cheap cheap bone induction (kononnya) headphone (RB-S33) for cycling usage, cant complain la for this price. I think its safer also compare to earbud, wont cycling halfway dropped out from ear haha

If u wana get higher end 1. look for Aftershockz brand bone induction headphone, the apple store at ground floor of Digital Mall (section 13) do have demo units for testing!
*
this one not bone induction, just small speaker blasting outside your ears

where do people park ah? can ride very fast or not? cause there will be a lot of people right?
*
Park at mcd or masjid besi parking lot. If ride around lake it is the jogging path so even if no people also you won't be riding fast. Enjoy the view.

If you wish to ride fast then it is out on the main road usually, together with roadbikes and other vehicles.

i wouldn't recommend ppl to park at mcd parking. it's meant for mcd customer for dine-in and takeway. can park kat open space tepi mcd.
*
ah... when i say Mcd actually i have in mind the empty lot beside Mcd, just that for convenience i left that out and just write mcd as the landmark. theres not much parking box in Mcd compound anyway.

Just curious on some rough observation on the frame where they are mostly the same but with diff brand. ie TRS Topaz, Crossmac Haagen 901, Camp Ecosmo, Java Zelo. Or TRS Croze Pro and Pacific Noris 2.8.

They all have very similar frame but diff specs. Are they all same company just stick with diff logo and color?  confused.gif  confused.gif

imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

they could've been based on the same design but made by diifererent factories, and probably with different metal compositions as well.

Specs can always be changed on a whim since those are bolt-on stuffs.

QUOTE(Kilohertz @ Jun 2 2022, 08:21 PM)
hey guys, foldie is foreign to me smile.gif but i'm looking into getting a foldie with a budget of 2-3k. any recommendation? in terms of best bang for buck..

Plus what's the difference between 16inch vs 20inch wheels? other than the size. Which is recommended for long distance cycling?
*
for your budget, an fnhon blast would be perfect. it's a 20-incher by the way, though you may either pick 406 or 451.

for long distance cycling, assuming the same number of tooth count and gearing between the two, relatively speaking a bigger wheel always better than a smaller wheel.

but for portability smaller wheel is easier to carry around.

if you're going for a 16-incher then fnhon gust lor.

Do you put earbuds while cycling? Listening to songs or whatever?
*
Yes I do

Some may not like it because they deem it blocking their situational awareness and noise perception. Not an issue for me.
