I have my driving license suspended for two years and now looking for a folding bike to cover my daily light commuting of family's food/light groceries around my housing area (within a 2-3KM radius).

Come across Dahon and Giant brands after a day of Google for reliable brands. Any recommendation for a folding bike that is within <2K budget? (or a little over 2K) that can serve me well for at least 2 years?
*
get a used Aceoffix (brompton clone)

Are there any noticeable differences between 14" and 20" tires? I know that weight-wise, 20" would be heavier (??) but other than that?
*
yes. big difference.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed reading this thread, maybe because this thread is meant for serious folding bikers.

But if you all could help me giving some pointers, as I intend to get a simple folding bike for commute, one that is meant for just that.
A simple, no-plans-to-upgrade set-ups, cheap, but one that provides at least some level of comfort/safety.

I am looking at this two items:

1-
https://shopee.com.my/READY-STOCK-%F0%9F%94...33-91db8364ee13

2-
https://shopee.com.my/%F0%9F%94%A5Ready-Sto...4f-3b8c897f56e7
And if boleh, elaborate a bit why so. This would help me so much in deciding which one to get.
This may be a tough ask, but hopefully you all can help me out.
*
at that price better just get any bike without folding.

But folding is sort of a must, as it makes it easier to carry/store the bike.. any thoughts between the two products?
*
then go ahead and buy the one u prefer since you have already set the budget.

nothing to comment. if u could get the hands on to test the folding mechanism then you know why here never discuss such price range folding bike.

don't misunderstand, we don't look down on such bike, just that folding mechanism is a safety concern part and we do not risk our life to save money on that.

that's the reason why i said with that budget better go for non-folding bike.

Hi sifus....am wondering if anyone can recommend a bicycle shop or wherever that I can change the tube in the tyre? Have 1 Java Fit and 1 Oyama bike (not sure what models they are), seems the tyre size is about 18~20 inches. Bought them from Pedalspot many years ago, called them up but they said they don't stock up for tyres this size anymore. Location in KL. Thanks!
*
decathlon offer such service even u not buying their bike.

else u can buy from lazada/shopee and bring to any bike shop to change.

if u got joined any bike group u can always ask nearby member for help, pay them je.

Hi everyone, I am looking for a speedy foldies to commute to office. Distance around 15-17km one way.

Is it worth it to splurge on Tern X11? Or is there comparable and more affordable foldies?

When i google, Alcott Z1 also came out but review are not plenty. Would like to hear from all of you.

Thanks.
*
if you can take shower in office then you can get any bike you like.

Hey folks, I saw a bunch of people cycling with their foldies at Putrajaya at night, I'm interested to join such group as well! Any over here?
*
u can just ride along with them and ask if you could join the peloton.

most foldies riders are friendly.

Oh I was in my car at that time, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever stumble upon them again tongue.gif That being said, is there any groups on socmed that organise ride like this from time to time?
*
normally they know each other for quite some times, so they will have their own whatsapp/telegram group.

so just approach them directly will do.

Any folding bike light enough to be carried in MRT? Usage like cycle 2 km to MRT station then carry it in MRT, then cycle again to office like 500m?
*
carry bike isn't practical.

get something light and pushable like aceoffix.

more tips for newbie why we always recommend 1k+ used folding bike, understand the parts and do your own survey why "upgrade later" is not cost effective.

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry101332393

we are not discriminate cheap folding bike, but we raise awareness on safety.

if you are really tight in budget, look for those used foldinf bike under 1k with sturdy locking mechanism.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to afford a grand or more for a bike.
*
this is the point.

for those who asked for rm500 folding bike of course want to keep the cost down.

same like automobile, there will be something called "cost of ownership" over the time.
if one purchased those disc brake folding bike from online channel and arrived without proper tuning of the brake, he/she has to bring over to bike shop to fix it with cost and time too. (if he/she doesn't know how to diy)

V brake or c brake has lower learning curve to fix it.
