Digital zoom won't improve the bokeh. Optical zoom does.
As for the spider, since your zoom is limited, try to go near and shoot via macro setting. Don't let the spider bite you though |

Well yeah, with a P&S I cant optical zoom in macro (all these were taken with "Digital Macro" setting), so the next thing to do is digital zoom (something like "telephoto").
