I read on internet that if i turn my pc or mobile into a web server , such as xampp , laragon or kwp

if i have another device connected to the same wifi, it should also be able to connect to that site

however i tried using pc AND android mobile to host a site and both device cant connect to each others server on the same wifi

i troubleshoot by checking ip, nothing wrong with the ip and port i used

also turned off the firewall and created inbound rule, didnt work, still cant access

am i doing anything wrong or the article i read is bullshitting?

I'm not experts on webserver Hahahaha

The basic network sharing are you have to enable sharing over your host pc , password protected or nor
Add feature simple tcp ip

If outside network you need ddns port forwarding for the host pc example host ip are .0.68 add 8888 on your router

Hahahaha I only know the basic

Are you trying to access the webserver internally or externally?
Internally means using a your lan/wifi without going through the internet using a private ip address range. Externally means using your public ip address or DNS name to connect to your webserver.

If internally you should be able to access the webserver using its internal ip address(192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x). No changes required at the firewall at the router. Just need the necessary inbound rules at the web server.

If both of your devices is using wifi to connect to each other, it is possible that you wifi access point is configured to block wifi to wifi communication. If you can't ping each other, it is possible that it is blocked either by the access point or the firewall within the devices.

For connecting from the outside, you will to do some port forwarding on your router. Best to test using a different internet connection since not all routers allow traffic from the same internal network to come back in via port forwarding. It may work with newer routers so results may vary.

Also if your ISP doesn't provide you with a public IP address, you won't be able connect to your webserver from the internet.

So you will not be accessing the web server from the internet. It will all be done through your existing lan/wifi network. The router is out of the picture in this scenario.

Can the web server be pinged by the other computers on your network? You can try to disable the firewall on the target(web server) computer to simplify things for testing.

Can.

You can access the web server with its LAN IP. Or if you have split DNS, you can access with a domain name both locally and remotely. For the latter, you will need dynamic dns and port forwarding configured.
