Yeah i do make it general. General means most of S40 phones are better in battery life. (except if the phone and/or it's battery is faulty itself)

S40 doesnt suck up a lot of power compared to S60 but if the phone itself have a low capacity battery then it comes down to that. Battery capacity.

You also need to keep in mind that S40 have different versions that isnt that much different from one another (visually) but has better/lower power consumption in later versions (only on newer s40 phones). If compared with S60v3 fp2, i would dare say that s40 has the upper hand in low battery consuption.

Nokia 5310 uses S40 5th Edition and 6288 is a much older phone laa (it uses a much older s40 version) plus a lot of 6288 has problems concerning battery life and stability. So if you want to compare batt life with 5310 is i suggest you do so with a much newer phone with newer S40 version.

that make things clear... updating to newer firmware helps consume less battery life huh... didnt know that...

any of these can effect battery life:

1. battery's age
2. firmware updates
3. turn on/off UMTS/DUAL mode or only GSM
4. User's usage
5. Coverage of gsm and 3g

1. battery's age - only 3 weeks old
2. firmware - the newest version
3. turn on/off umts - what the heck is this??
4. usage - sms/call only at night. didn't touch hp during working hours (daytime).
5. coverage - don't have 3g.

if im not mistaken, i've done it in my 5610xm before.. need to do some searching in your phone settings..

turn off 3g and use only GSM coverage.. can save more batt life

now i've used 2 crystal case already. it keep breaking by itself, especially on the top left edge near the on/off button.

if this 3rd case also break, looks like i'm gonna leave it naked for the rest of its life..biggrin.gif
