Smuky : ghostring on the plasma image is faulty on panel which u can exchange 1 to 1, but depend who u brought it from la coz they nid to do some paper work, of course lousy like what cingu said, that's plasma weakness, 1 out of 1000/10000 (cant remember) in production will hav failure due to this reason,a lot ppl dunno about it, will look back the article again and post it here later again (seriously i read quite some time ago)...not only panny lousy le cingu, i saw pioneer do hav a unit with same problem also lol, deflection always takes place and aint that perfect.....u call up GM of panny or pionner also they wont able to answer u, coz i hav experienced once b4 with customer and i can tell u that korea brand's plasma has higher tendency to hav this issue, that's y i always will not recommend the korea brand to my fren/relative - normally this ghostring as u mentioned will appear even once u put plug power to ur tv after taking out from the box, so it is the best u tested all the thing b4 allowing the deliveryman to go off..... so do study ur gadget 1st b4 jumping in the point lol, and donot worry smuky - if anything happen, i can help u sort it out, that's sales after service hahahaha - get ur tv first on end of april and we see how, or else our head will beheaded by 50 customers from sunway and plus customers from ikano.... Bro jasjas, you are sales person for Panasonic ... doubt you dare to criticize Panasonic products ... how excellent is PV8 or PV80 ... yet to test them out ... as no outlet willing to let consumer to fully hands-on ...
Added on April 11, 2008, 12:55 amseem like some people always emphasis Panasonic PV8 and PV80 are the only best Plasma TV in the market ... let it be This post has been edited by clngu: Apr 11 2008, 12:57 AM |

well, putting this way, if it good i will support but if it is bad, i will critizing it to the max, so far panasonic plasma (from asia type) do not reveal a big issue except 1 or 2 back since i been working with the 4th series (when plasma selling at rm20k+), same goes to now as the pv70 do not create any issue to me as a panny part time promoter or as an user, and as for pv80, the issue is not risen yet, since it is not delivered to anyone in Malaysia. So far, those display pv80 plasma which on from 10 to 10, do not create any fuss to us......
Afterall u still need a responsible dealer to bear the problem for u by just not simply throwing the issue to here and there, that's y nvr buy from small small shop or unknown ppl/blacklisted dealer just because rm200-500 different, they might just escape when something wrong.... and believe me i m a fresh graduate in architecture awaiting for my master offer, why would the panny ppl to place me as the senior promoter/mercendaizer even i just part timer only? and if panny really lousy as ever, for this past 4 years, my handphone will be really busy d or i would quit within a year liu, again i m not panny fanboy coz i do support other brands in my house except the one from korea, as they creeps me out and i m not going to work long with panny sale..... just write based on my experience only, i m here not to promote or selling anything, afterall if i really want to do it, i would hav done it b4 the sunway roadshow liu, just have to reveal my connection with panny since meeting up ur guys....... chk back my first experience back from the sunway setup, i nvr mentioned it is the best, but compatible since the price also half, what i m waiting is the py800 (not being perasaan but just clarify in first place) This post has been edited by jasjas: Apr 11 2008, 04:10 AM |

QUOTE(jasjas @ Apr 10 2008, 11:17 PM) Actually, I don't believe that ghosting on plasma is due to faulty image. It is more a case that different colour phosphors have different response speeds in plasma panels. I can't remember correctly but I think blue has always been faster than green or something to that effect. Therefore, this is INHERENT in plasma technology (just like smearing/ghosting in LCDs) The only way to minimise this is from the panel manufacturer. Panasonic plasmas have been known to exhibit some of these symptoms (e.g. search Youtube for Gears of War Plasma Fringing). You can see some of that there. Gears of War with its dark scenes is supposed to be one of the games that really make this issue obvious. Having said that, I've never seen it in real life (but I also don't own a Panasonic plasma or an Xbox360). Supposedly some people are more succeptible to it than others. (the screenshots you see are likely to be taken from high-speed camera and not totally reflective of real life). I'm sure other brands of plasmas have this as well. Also, I think some/all plasma manufacturers have tried to implement technology to counter these issues. Some brands of course have better success/better results to this. |

Give you a few tips,
1) Check the screen properly. I used to have a bar code type of logo at my plasma screen when i bought it. Must off the TV see from side then only can notice. 2) Check the battery is it separate from your remote control. If not separate then should have a layer of plastic between your batteries and the connector. 3) Check whether they give your a kind of special cloth to rub the LCD/plasma. I got it for both my plasma and LCD. 4) Check with them whether they do colour calibration for you or not. 5) the rest shall be those standard checking. eg. warranty card and etc. |

Hi guys, today morning I went to TBM Cheras to test Panasonic PV8 ... Bro Adrian, I sms you before I go there but you did not reply me ... too bad ... opportunity gone
TBM Cheras branch, Panasonic Canavan was there ![]() ![]() TBM HQ and other branches ![]() I went there around 11am, Panasonic Canavan not read yet. So I walked into TBM to look around AV equipment. No one serve me for about 15 minutes, then came one young and handsome guy asking me "anything I can help you". I told him I am looking for TV, any recommendation for me. He then explained to me brand by brand (between LCD and Plasma). At the end, I told him I am interested in Pioneer and Panasonic. Since Panasonic Canavan was not ready. He showed me Pioneer EX 50" Full HD and KURO 42" HD. Both TVs connected to Sony Blu-ray player. I asked him to show me Picture Quality settings, and what so good about Pioneer KURO. Pioneer KURO emphasis on black level (pure black), bringing cinematic experience to user (like watching cinema at home). It has 3 layers of black level. It has 6 pre-set (Optimum, Standard, Dynamic, Movie, Sport and Game) and 2 custom (User, Pro Adjust) Picture Quality modes. Then I tested blu-ray movie on both Full HD and HD models. Full HD 1920x1080 has 2 million pixels and HD 1365x768 has 1 million pixels. In term of picture quality playing on blu-ray, Full HD colour is better and image is sharper than HD. But if playing on DVD, no different at all. BTW, playing DVD on Plasma, picture quality is bad. Another thing is watching Astro on Plasma, picture quality is better and shaper than LCD. At last, Panasonic Canavan ready (waiting for than 1 hour). The setup still the same at Sunway Pyramid roadshow. TBM guy showed me Panasonic PV8H 42" HD. Again I asked him to show me Picture Quality settings, and what so good about Panasonic VIERA. In term of picture quality, it connected to Panasonic DVD player, so the picture quality is bad. Panasonic not so much emphasis on black level. It has single layer of black level. It has 3 pre-set (Dynamic, Standard, Cinema) Picture Quality modes. BTW, the van is damn hot inside even with air-con on because parked under the sun. None of Panasonic people serve me even beauty promoters, totally different experience compare to Sunway Pyramid. Now, let me summarize (my own opinion) between Panasonic VIERA PV8H vs Pioneer KURO 428XG. 1. Panasonic is locally assemble (either Malaysia or Singapore), therefore the price is cheap. Pioneer is fully imported from Japan, so the price is expensive. 2. Panasonic colour is toward natural colour. Pioneer colour is toward sharpness. 3. Panasonic has 3 pre-set picture quality modes. You only can adjust everything between them. Limited colour customization. Pioneer has 2 custom picture quality modes. You can manually adjust everything to your preference. Conclusion, TBM guy was friendly and technical sound. He spent 2 hours explaining to me between Pioneer and Panasonic. He said in term of Plasma, either Pioneer or Panasonic, even though others like Sharp, LG, etc could not compete with them. If budget constraint, Panasonic is the choice. Otherwise Pioneer is the best among all. Since no blu-ray to test on Panasonic PV8H, I just watched movie Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End on DVD. I realized the picture quality, colour is natural but a bit too light/soft compare to watching at Cinema. Did not give me the kind of movie feelings. I wanted to adjust the colour from 3 pre-set modes. It seem Panasonic people not so friendly, I better not giving trouble to TBM guy. Anyway, I told TBM guy to help me connect Blu-ray player to PV8H if possible. Tomorrow I will bring my own blu-ray movies to test it. Added on April 11, 2008, 3:17 pmone more thing, Pioneer so far the only one has Professional people to do colours calibration for you. of course you have to pay the fee. otherwise you can engage third-party to do it as well.
