Hello dear enthusiast.

I'm new to pond. but i have many years of experience with large aquariiums.

but recently i constructed a pond in my newly build home. the pond had been cycling for about 1.5 months now. just set up all the plants.. just haven't decided on what fish to put in it? are there any high quality dwarf koi s.

here are some pictures of my pond.

the large round pond is about 7 feet dia and 4+ feet deep.

the plants look a lil too arganised at the moment. but i guess when it grows into bush and becomes a lil messy in conjunction with moss, it'll look much more NA-TU-RAL.

i haven't taken any picture of the filtration system. will update soon.

u can change the water and put some normal fish to try the water inside the pond.

change the water? y so? this water has been cycling for 6 weeks(with added lil fish food in it) to establish the nitrogen cycle. so i believe it's stale enough. already tried adding some medium sensitive fish to see if the water is good. and also brought some water sample to test out the amonia, nitrite and nitrate. the condition is looking good. all the ppm is within the safe range except a 'lil' high nitrate for the plants to trive.

my question is, i'm pretty indecisive on what fish to put in. i dun want giant kois clustering my pond. i want some high qualiity kois in a very small amount. and also somethin that doesn't grow too big. sorta dwarf kinda thing..

pls feel free to suggest keeping my criteria in mind. thank a lot in advance.

Very impressive work considering you're not a contractor neither did you engage professional services. Beautiful looking garden starting to develop there, wouldn't mind pictures of the rest of the house/garden area if you don't mind sharing.

However, was the pond meant to look like a phallic symbol? No offence LOL but if it was intentional its still quite subtle and can't help but smile if one were to realize it.

Not related to fishes per se but how does the filtration system work and after all that obvious hard work you've put in, what are your plans for the pipes along the wall?

Thanks man.

here are pics of the house below.
Hahahaha. it's feng shui. pond of fertility.. hahaha.. it all was a big coincidence. first the deshgn started with just fountain, and then along came a river. Then i got a lil ambitious and added a pond at the bottom. the pond, that's a nother story. instead of makin a round boring pond, i drew a big circle and drew three circle inside it and cut out the middle circle if u get my drift. and walla, now i've officially created a penis pond without even me realising. hehehe. so yea.

filtration, if u look and the first picture, there's four step filtration compartment. the water flow from the bottom of the pond under the ground into the first compartment(brushed and coarse sponge). fill the first compartment and flows into the second compartment(lava rocks and coral rock) and then into third compartment(ceramic rings and fine sponge) and then into last compartment which has a UV lamp and a pump that pumps the water to the fountain. so from the fountain it flows into the river then to pond that, u know.

about the pipes against the wall, i'm just gonna paint in white coz if u notice, it's directly behind a planter box. and the planter box will be fully covered with bush and brushes that'll cover the wall altogether. the pipes goes into auto sprinkler system it;s time and sprinkled zone by zone instead of turning everythin on at a time and loosing the pressure.

pics. the theme is 'country house'

I was looking at the picture of your garden with the hills in the background and it reminded me of our Janda Baik residence. Then I saw your backyard view towards the end hahah. Beautiful house, more impressive is that you did it on your own.

My father has designed a few of our houses which the architects of course had to look at and make changes (load bearing walls etc) so I can appreciate the effort it takes not to mention when working on your own house, it never really ends does it? smile.gif

bro moe, what a fantastic house u got, btw regarding the pond.. have you soak your pond for a month before you start cycling.. ? just remember to check your ph before u add in new fish.. normally new concrete/cement pond will have high ph.. then it will gradually decrease after some time with water change. you should have made your pond bigger haha, since your temperature there should be lower and its ideal for keepng japanese koi. and just a precaution, those stone/gravels on the bottom of the pond.. it will be troublesome in future if u decide to keep fish. they have a forum at (koianswers . com ) malaysian & singaporean base , alot koi kichis can help you out and give you suggestions

Thanks Heng.

the pond has been soaked, washed with pineapple, soaked and washed again several times. will definately do the ph test. but so far there's 3 tester tilapia(hardy) in the big pond, some swordtails and guppies and mollies in the fountain. they all seem to be doin fine.

made the pond bigger? hmm, it's a bit tricky. if u see carefully, the fountain and the river is directly above my basement carpark. we have about almost one feet of soil there just for the grass. The pond just clears the carpark. and beside the pond there another tank underground measuring 8 by 8 feet by depth 3 feet. this tank is a reservoir for mountain water for the sprinkler system.

Well, here's the thing. though i'm into fish keeping but i didn't quite intend that for this pond. the idea is, the pond is the main thing, not the fish. the fish is only to accesorise the pond. i'm probably gonna put 3 kois and 2 kelahs maybe. that's the max i would go. so u get the idea. smile.gif

i'll definately look into the forum. and besides, what's kichis? unsure.gif
