Hi all,

Just started having my own koi pond, kyspeaks koi building blog do help a lot, thanks kyspeak, although i didn't write anything in you blog.

Anyway nice to share experience with you koi lover out there, my pond has just been completed last week, a concrete pond, the same as ky's. Just wondering when can we actually put in the kois?

Do we need to let the pond with the pump running for some time before releasing the fish? hmm.gif

Guys, any advice??? icon_question.gif I planned to release the fish this thursday. And should anybody want to have their koi for adoption, I'm more than willing to adopt them.

Hope to get lots of replies from all of you..

The pond size ia about 5'x4'X3'(depth), i'm using a biofilter made from japanese mat and pebbles.

My concrete pond is ready since Sunday, can anyone tell me how long should i wait before i release my fish?

I'll upload the pic later.

i see. a bit smaller than mine. ur biofilter is by gravity feed or by pump ? do post up some pics ya .

i would suggest fill the pond first , let it for 3-4 days , monitor the water quality. also put some water plants for the koi's shade . but some koi does like to eat those .. sweat.gif

haha sorry . already all dead lar . some idiot poison them while i was away . then lazy to keep koi anymore, demolish the pond.

yeah . for koi's, the deeper, the better . and the pond size does effect the koi's size. try put koi in 2ft aquarium. they will never grow large. then put in a bigger pond , sure will grow bigger.

Yup, I plan to buy some cheap koi from Pasar Road first, around RM3-5 each.

I'll definitely post some picture later, currently the lanscape is not yet ready, just the pond, with the pump running 24 hours a day.

Hopefully the koi/interest would last. he..he if not then i would have to demolish the pond also la...

u can get the small small 'tiger fish' to test. cos if u buy koi to test, big oledi if u don't want.. u need to send them some where.
get small 'tiger fish' then u no worries in future..smile.gif soak ur poud enought n change water only start ur pump. if not all the chemicals n 'saltly' go ur filter... make sure the cement chemicals all clean 1st.

Bro my filter is fed by pump, its just a simple mat plus pebbles tpye of filter. Heard a koi pond owner implement this method and really works.

i think you better let the koi pond run with water 1st....den do a 100% water change den put some tester fish....if they survive 2 days ...den ur koi's are ready to go in...
