This is one of the phones I am eyeing. However, disappointed because, for me at least, it somehow lacks the wow factor, despite the collab with Haaselblad. And I don’t think the value will commensurate with the price, when it’s announced.

that would most likely be due to the SD888

but then what i find most cringey was the way they marketed the phone

its like as if the camera is finally godtier quality

but end up still same typical oneplus marketing gimmick

they did this with the oneplus 5t or 5. end up quality still as bad

i would say the most decent photo quality would be the 8 pro. comparable with most flagships

not sure how they fark up with the 9/9pro tho.. by right it should be miles better since they set the expectation too high with the aggresive marketing

IF they didnt emphasize too much on the hassleblad collab and kept posting photos on their social media.. people might buy and ignore the camera quality again

Less chances even they bashed OnePlus before but keeps giving them reviews unit. Every country as different PR team . Mr.Mobile Micheal fisher also join that list soon because to honest since OnePlus 7T

They knows shortcoming of cameras that’s why they ignore DxO Mark test😂😂

Current smartphones are facing this issues due to processing of chipset and camera. S21U iPhone 12 Pro also heats if you push camera a lot

despite them trying to be global

like banning reviewers = it just shows they cannot accept criticism and no intentions to improve (or they just think they're the best)

if they really want to compete with Samsung or Apple, be prepared to take criticism and improve where people say hurts the most.

so far can see they are from from even the first step. but then price their phones aggresively

not many are willing to buy the OP9P at Samsung/Apple pricing

so far the overheating complains on the s21u on xda/reddit.. i dont experience that even during heavy set up during day #1

ya, waste my 1 hour time watch the launch event, been a big fan of oneplus ( owned oneplus 3t, oneplus 6t, oneplus 7 pro,now oneplus 8t)but now they really shxt up their product,guess 8t is my final oneplus device for now.

better look into samsung flagship next time, their support for software much better these day (just received android 11 for my tab s6 lite)

Maybe wait for the actual phone to be out first for real impression? Seems like nowadays a lot of new phone are flops. The Samsung S21 series plagued by overheating and performance issues, The Mi11 random shutdown and overheating/ throttling processor issues. So seems like sticking back to our current phones might be a good option?

China sets are known to be cheapest for Oneplus phones in the whole wide world.

Can still flash to Oxygen OS when you get it.

Not a huge issue though. Color OS is still pretty good.

Order directly from taobao then. Around the price of S21 lol.

Ppl are being too harsh on this phone la. 😁 Of coz it won't leave up to the hype, but it is still a very good phone

The problem was that the expectation was too high to begin with. But I don't blame the potential buyers though. They are going to pay top dollar for the best from Oneplus and of course they would be expecting nothing but the best. Previously, we were only paying a fraction of the price for flagship features on a Oneplus phone so we didn't complain much. But its a different ball game now. I personally think Oneplus should just stick back with the tried and tested and do away with the fancy features which drives the prices up.

too many competition at every price point, oneplus need to stick to what they good at, great software, decent price, now they messed up with 2 of their strength, at the cost of camera (not good to begin at)

Ya man... well its a different company now. Its trying to be in the same league with the big boys in the industry now.

Xiaomi is doing pretty well I might say. They are still sticking to their roots and playing the "high specs, mid range price factor" with their products. Personally its only MIUI which is their weak link right now but I heard it has gone through some major revamp.

Since when did any manufacturers succeed in living up to their own hype though? Enthusiast appreciate the old oneplus, but sticking to it's old strategy means oneplus will never be able to sell their phone to the mainstream customers and continue to only serve a niche group of consumers. Good strategy for a new startup but obviously not good enough for a growing company.

We've seen many local food stall starting to expand their business and move to shop lot while expanding their menus and increase prices along the way, some continue to attract customers while some disappear after a while. Unfortunately that is how business grown

For the average consumers, it doesn't matter to them if the camera performs inferior to the S21 ultra. As long as it takes good picture (to average consumers) and comes stapled with a hasselblad branding and celerbities endorsing the camera marveling about how good the camera is, then it's a good camera for them. Branding means everything to the average cosumers lol

Having said that, how is the oneplus not a compelling device? Lets take the S21 Plus as comparison (similar price point)

Better haptic engine (x motor compare to older z motor)
Alert slider
Much faster charging, wired and wireless
Snapdragon to exynos
