I don't think u can blame the number of games played for Puerta's death. He had a congenital heart disease that wasn't detected. That said u can't blame medical checkups as well. It's very difficult to diagnose some heart defects if it is not known. It's just one of those things that just happens in life.

RIP Antonio. Though I do not know or even seen you play. You don't deserve to die so early. God only knows why he took you in so early. RIP. YNWA

I don't have any medical background of sorts but I'm guessing prolonged moderate strain on the body (as in playing many games in a long season) is tolerable and at worst causes fatigue but sudden severe strain on the body (the non-stop running in modern football) can be straining to the body's organs. And if you have a heart condition it's only a matter of time when one day you just push yourself too far during a game.

I doubt Puerta's heart condition can be detected with today's technology, like Verx said, it's just one of those things which happen in life.

It can be detected with today's technology. I think something like an ECG or MRI...the problem is nobody does those tests for a normal medical checkup. It's only if u suspect u have a heart problem that u undergo those tests.
I'm no medical student either so if anyone can clarify it would be appreciated.

Yeap, if someone passed out, you grab his tongue so he won't swallow it. If someone is in a fit, you make sure he bite his toungue and not your hand. Muscle is better than bones Don't make that mistake.

WTF?what about the normal fainting in public areas?example like when walking halfway in emporium n then just faint?will the victim bite the tongue s well in that circumstances?
