Firstly, it has been deserving of a thread and thank God for one. better than all the crap threads created over the day or two.

Secondly yeah, first heard about this in the Madrid thread and what a shame. He is 22 and breaking into the national team with all the European clubs monitoring his progress and next thing you know, this happens. All the best Puerta!!!!!!!!!! Stay strong.

Yeah, and I know it sounds cheesy and stuff but I really wanted him to play for us (Manchester United) when rumors were suggesting a 10 million euro move for him. Damn! And air_mood, care to tell us where you heard about his pregnant girlfriend?

Added on August 28, 2007, 9:47 pmIt's been a bloody bitter week for me. One of my favourite comedians Owen Wilson attempted suicide, Puerta (not say I am a big fan but I have seen him many a time for Sevilla and liked him) in critical condition and Ole's retirement.

I'd rather have him out of it rather than risking his life.

Words can't possibly describe how I feel right now. The words "rest in peace" seems trivial at the moment.

Added on August 28, 2007, 11:50 pmcan't help thinking of this song:

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
Cheerio, here I go, on my way
Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
Not a tear, but a cheer, make it gay
Give me a smile I can keep all the while
In my heart while I'm away
Till we meet once again, you and I
Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye

Added on August 28, 2007, 11:55 pm"UEFA, after a joint request by AEK and the Sevilla team, has decided to postpone the game because of the death of football player Antonio Puerta and the tragic events from the fires in Greece," AEK said.

AEK, which had previously asked for the match to be postponed due to the fires across Greece that have killed 64 people in five days, said the game will be played Monday.

It is really touching to see the opposition being so understanding in such moments.

Nice touch from Madrid who canceled the game against Lisbon due to Puerta's untimely death. Saw Sergio Ramos at the hospital sad.gif

Probably common sense. He would have choked. But Drago was quick though. Maybe he did know the procedures.

Yeap, if someone passed out, you grab his tongue so he won't swallow it. If someone is in a fit, you make sure he bite his toungue and not your hand. Muscle is better than bones whistling.gif Don't make that mistake.

Went to some forums which had a La Liga subforum and in there were videos of the news coverage concerning Puerta's death.

In cycling, they monitor your heart rate through your breathing to detect such things. Aren't the equipments not modern enough to detect?

Maybe it's something sinister and the Sevilla medical staff decided it was worth the risk for Pueta's career to go on. After all, he already fainted twice before.

Please souls, I mean I would rather not believe it. I maybe naive but I would like to thing sports is clean until proven guilty. And to say that teams would risk players' lives for the sake of the club is just not right.
