I went to my relative's house to view his work and the workmanship looks quite good.

Is this a fair quotation?

My relatives have worked with the contractor before and he is very reliable but I am wondering if the quotation he gave me is on the higher side or is it just standard.

cant comment on the aluminum bits; but my breakdown on the other stuffs are as follows: 1. RM22psf for tiling works is quite expensive. Usually RM5.50psf for workmanship; RM3psf for the materials (cement, adhesive materials, etc). Tiles pricing is heavily dependent on your tile of choice. 2. RM7psf for plaster ceiling (i assume) is not cheap. Market price for >1000sqft is in the region of RM2.50 to RM3psf. 3. RM30psf for awning is on the high-side; especially if the awning does not come with sound-deadening. Normal uninsulated awning should be in the region of RM18psf. Insulated ones will be in the region of RM25psf. This is based off renovation price estimates from a recent quote I have gotten late 2020. nidunalza liked this post

QUOTE(uncle_ben @ Mar 17 2021, 10:25 AM) cant comment on the aluminum bits; but my breakdown on the other stuffs are as follows: The awning is the sound-deadening and insulated type and the ceiling is for the extended kitchen. Right now the kitchen is just using normal roof and there is no ceiling so the kitchen gets extremely hot.1. RM22psf for tiling works is quite expensive. I'm not sure if normal ceiling is different from plaster ceiling. |
