I use iPC or is it iAtakos. It doesn't matter. Its possible for us to do a normal upgrade or installation provided you know how

For Intel® PCs , its possible to get a direct download from Apple

As for AMD , you need to download a combo updater or download another distro

Make sure your card is compatible

I bought D-link GWL520-G and it works fine. Its a PCI card FYI and it uses atheros chip

If you want to work it as airport , get broadcom or atheros chipsets (which are compatible) and OSX will work fine with them !

If you're going to transfer large files through wifi , then go with N. Otherwise , stick with G/B .Trust me , if you're in Malaysia (assuming you're in Malaysia) - Wireless 802.11b is enough

If you just want Internet Connectivity , then 802.11b/g would do , but if you plan to transfer large files across your network then go for N

trust me , on that...802.11n is still not the 'thing' yet !

My so-called HacStandard works fine. I am thankful for Dell for using the same motherboard (not to say its 1:1 same , but a similar motherboard which shares the same audio chip , motherboard controllers found on the 1st generation of iMacs). So basically for me , sound , PCI , PCI-E , SATA , ATA , USB , works out of the box

Depending on your usage , you may want to get a dual core or quad core. Make sure you invest on Apple Keyboard. Its a must-have if you plan to use OSX !


Sorry it wouldn't work , but I am sure that its possible to do a SMBIOSEFI trick fooling the installer disk that its MacBookPro1,1 (or whatever model) , so that it would install it fine. I could be wrong on this. But I think its possible , if you could use retail disc to install on a PC , I think its possible

Oh yeah those who are using Hackint0sh , do consier yourself on buying up the Apple keyboard or mouse ! Do support our local apple stores/retailers or just buy OSX DVD ! Its such a great OS !

No longer in production. Honestly speaking the old one is much more better then the new one. The keys are better , argh !

But one nice thing I like about the new one is that it has itunes controls , so you could forward/rewind/pause/play while surfing the internet or doing other stuff

to fix your sound issue. You may need to get SMBIOS fix for 2 Cpus thingy

There are few folks who are selling Broadcom 802.11n pci-e cards and Atheros 802.11n cards

These cards would work fine under OSX (as Airport)

Since you're using a dell, why don't you buy the Wireless N card (for those who are trying hard for wifi)

This broadcom card works with COMPAQ laptops

RM 100 (yeah bit pricey) but its the same wifi card which can be found in MacBook Pros , its native - meaning it works out of the box without any hacking , etc

Suk , that one works with your laptop. Check with the seller. Its the only card that we can find in Malaysia for laptops which works as Airport

Oh by the way , its very hard to find Dell 1390/1490 , if anyone knows where to get them let me know


Anyway things that work with Tablet Hack (will post pictures later)

1. Graphics card (obviously , duh its GMA 950 - it has to work)
2. Bluetooth (works out of the box)
3. Basic keyboard + mouse (had to install PS2 kext) , + USB + Sleep (sleep works but after that it goes too slow)
4. Touch-screen (My tablet has two modes in bios , one is touch screen and the one is in tablet. In touch screen mode , with Windows Vista/XP Tablet - I can write and use it as a tablet pc , but its not supported in Linux. However in OSX , it works out of the box and it shows me Ink. I can write on the screen)
5. Ethernet (Works out of the box)




Things that I thought would work but didn't work
1. Sound - AppleHDA keeps on giving me kernel panics. Figuring it out why
2. WiFi - expected this guy to work. Its Atheros MiniPCIe , but it doesn't work . Ordered Broadcom 802.11n card in order to fix this

Anyway wireless doesn't work. HAL error 3 , it throws some error due to some PCI bus misconfiguration (ouch !). I'll try to get the developers to patch it up nicely for me

anyhow , I've ordered Broadcom 802.11n card as well. Hopefully the BIOS <3s the card. So far I have not had any issues. People even managed to connect TV Tuner miniPCIe card on this Fujitsu u1010 !

appleazila does the trick. Installed boot camp drivers on Windows anyway. That fixes Apple's keyboard and mouse. Mighty Mouse does both horizontal and vertical scrolling.

What ? Seriously , it does not. OSX does caching just like how Vista mananges its memory , well its way better then Vista !

I can get you a guide on how to hack your BIOS and flash it

Get NTFS-3G , google it up

Install it , you can then write on NTFS partitions

Good News : No whitelist card for my Fujitsu U1010. It can just take about any wifi card

actually most of the motherboards can boot OSX 10.5 Virgin discs

Chameleon 2.0 RC1 has its own installer. If you want , I could upload it for you

Use gpartd , or Disk Utility , or you may want to clone your installation partition to a bigger drive as well
