Some files have been deleted in Kalyway and other distros in order to fit in one 4.7 GB DVD. The retail Leopard DVD is a dual layer DVD, the total size is about 6GB. Minus Xcode (development tool which most people don't use) 1GB, that's about 5+GB just for OS install. Kalyway for example, have localize files (languages) and extra voice deleted. It should be OK, most people won't miss anything.
Backup your data before installing. This post has been edited by CPURanger: Jul 21 2008, 11:35 PM |

QUOTE(jiant @ Jul 23 2008, 08:33 PM) no... i get the info of my dvd ram with nero and it mention only 4.33 only little bit not enough space. I don't have this problem, I burned Kalyway 10.5.2 (3.66GB) and Leo4Allv3 (4.38) DVDs. Why don't you get Kalyway or iAtkos v4i (2.64GB), much smaller, sure can burn laaa....i try many times oderi...also try overburn...but stop at 98% with error. |

QUOTE(allvin @ Jul 23 2008, 11:42 PM) retail dvd is 7GB cos' contains developer tools. If you minus those out, it can be put at a single layer dvd Xcode 3.0 (Developer tools) is about 1GB, 7 GB - 1GB = 6GB. So how can distros have complete files ?The first hack on Leopard installation done by BrazilMac. If you examine the shell file 9a581-patch.sh , it actually deletes X11, localize and other files in order to fit in single later DVD. This method is done for other distro. QUOTE(gengstapo @ Jul 30 2008, 12:05 PM) guys & gals, been looking thru the internet i865g driver for 10.5.2 but yet to get Have you try google yet ?dose anyone here have it? Anyway, it seems there is not much info regarding i865g driver. Check osx86 Hardware Compatible list (HCL). osx86 wiki Xplodenet HCL Added on August 1, 2008, 12:04 am QUOTE(muqaddam @ Jul 30 2008, 08:30 PM) guys, i have a problem while installing on my acer aspire 4720. It's probably PS/2 built in internal for laptop keyboard and trackpad. Manufacturers don't built PS/2 ports (external) not really useful, USB is more multi purpose, can be use for mouse, keyboard, hard disk etc.the problem as follows: Failed to load extension org.tgwbd.driver.ACPIPS2Nub Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIThermal" has no explicit kernel dependency; using version 6.0. i can see PS2 there but in fact, there are no PS2 ports on my laptop. i tried google and nothing came up to help. You can check if keyboard & trackpad is PS/2 on Windows, Device Manager, it will show if is PS/2 device. This post has been edited by CPURanger: Aug 1 2008, 07:11 AM |

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Aug 1 2008, 04:35 PM) yess, but seems not much i could get As far as I know, Macs does not use 815g. That's probably reason why you can't find driver for onboard video. You will have better luck with NVidia or ATI.thats Y im asking its work very nice, only i cant change the reso which is stuck at 1024x768 with 17" lcd. im quite sure u all pros here know what i mean Added on August 1, 2008, 10:20 pm QUOTE(ignis fatuus @ Aug 1 2008, 05:44 PM) I got stuck at that reso too. Are you on Nvidia? But i don't read anyone talk about any better resolution than that. I found nvkush and nvinject does not work for my Nvidia 8800GT 512MB. You can try NVInstaller (nvinstaller.com), it works for me before. Someone asked me to try nvkush, instead of the nvinject. I no longer use NVInstaller anymore. Right now I use EFI string to make use of existing OSX 8800 GT drivers. This post has been edited by CPURanger: Aug 1 2008, 10:21 PM |

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Aug 2 2008, 10:51 PM) nope, im using the internal chipset, intel 865g which i installed on dell GX170L As far as I know, no Macs uses 865g. So no existing osx drivers for 865g unless some one mod or write a driver. If your hardware is not in the HCL, most likely the driver is not available. Good luck in finding driver.hmm, wonder if there is modded driver which can support intel chipset? regarding the EFI thinggy, izzit possible to made it support intel 865g chippy? TQ EFI strings does not work for 865g. It merely provide the video hardware info with OS X. In turn OS X recognise it and loads the correct drivers. For example, 8800GT card is available for Mac Pro , therefore OS X have the driver. If you want to run OSX on PC, get your hardware as close as possible to Intel Macs. |

What do you mean menu is blank ? Menu appears blank or menu does not appear at all ?
I tested right click on Kalyway 10.5.2, it work fine. The usual menu pop up. You can try control key with left mouse click, is the same. This post has been edited by CPURanger: Aug 3 2008, 08:16 AM |

Matrix, that's too bad. I read natit no support for 4850 yet.
Just bought Samsung 2253BW 22" LCD at PC Fair last Sunday, all working fine at 1680 * 1050 60Hz. 1) Kalyway 10.5.3 with NVInstaller 0.52, LCD working fine with DVI. Before installing NVInstaller, resolution stuck at 1024 * 768. After installing NVInstaller, OS X auto switch to 1680 * 1050 res. 2) Retail install, 10.5.4 with EFI strings, working fine. No need to do anything, just plug and play, voila 1680 * 1050 mode. I have hook up my old 17" LCD to 8800GT second port, making dual monitor. It works, no problem. QUOTE(Heavenz @ Aug 14 2008, 06:01 PM) hey guys i totaly new to mac and all the thing i have is a asus p5b e-plus mobo and 1.5 gb ram and a empty 80gb hdd with a retails version leopard 10.5.1 what should i need for installing the leopard to my 80gb hdd ? i did a partition for the 80gb hdd formated by leopard also ... now what should i get to install it ? For retail install, there is a few ways of doing it, using Boot 132 loader, LTL retail install guide and other guides in insanelymac.com. My leopard installation is base on LTL retail guide. I have not try Boot 132 method.Installation may not be straight forward, at times you may need to find suitable kext (drivers) for your setup, requires some knowledge of command lines. For easy installation, I would suggest distros like Kalyway, Leo4All, iAtkos and etc. Added on August 15, 2008, 7:53 am QUOTE(muh_is @ Aug 13 2008, 11:44 PM) hi. I'm very very very new with hackintosh. just installed kalyway 10.5.2 on my amd rig. finally all drivers working fine, usb, graphic and audio. my only concern right now, any idea how to enable all 6 ports of my mobo audio? at the moment i can only use 1 for speaker, and another for mic. i wanted to use another one for my headphone, but got no idea how to assign like using realtek in windows.. oh btw mine is using alc888 codec. My motherboard is using AL889A, got the sound and mic working (test via skype), however did not test other ports. QUOTE(bola @ Aug 27 2008, 09:24 PM) My question is, can i patch it with the Mac 10.5.4 COmbo Update from apple (Combo Update link) ? I have been running 10.5.4 (retail install) with vanilla kernel for sometime now. Installed 10.5, straight upgrade to 10.5.4 (combo). It is not possible to install OS updates directly (either by online or offline) to hackintosh PCs because it will update/replace some of drivers and kernel file. Also it will add driver AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext which will cause PC hang during boot up, this driver have to be remove. You can try installing OS X combo update with this guide or this guide. However no gurantee this guide will work for distros. Do not know what drivers they put in for different distros, you have to identify right drivers in /System/Library/Extensions for backup. In summary, backup drivers in /System/Library/Extensions and /mach_kernel file before updating. After finish updating, do not restart. Copy back kernel file and driver files before rebooting. Good luck ! |

QUOTE(jaya_pc87 @ Sep 10 2008, 02:51 AM) I installed original vanilla leopard with chameleon efi emulation Congrats ! Sure wish I have the budget for specs like yours, then again I am not a heavy user, just for home use. Even my current CPU Q9300 is overkill for me and then update to 10.5.4 using official patch Everything Worked out of the box except for Video Card, Lan and Ps2 port IMO leopard retail (original vanilla leopard) is the best installation, no distros can matched. I have similar issues with my EP35-DS3 board, PS/2 not working and onboard LAN need to renew DHCP. Very stable just like your system. I do discover VMWare Fusion v1.1.3 does not work properly, Parallels however no problem. Alas, my motherboard kaputed couple of weeks ago, sent for warranty |

QUOTE(jaya_pc87 @ Sep 10 2008, 08:33 AM) now i remembered one problem in leopard! which needed serious fixing the usb uhci bus issue I opt for a simple solution, ditched the PS/2 keyboard. Bought a cheap Anyzen brand USB keyboard cost RM25 at Carre Four, Subang Jaya (if I remember correctly). This keyboard has keys layout close to Power Mac G4 except for few function keys. As for mouse, it can run PS/2 or USB mode, no need to change.as for the ps2 port there is an utility dedicated for gigabyte motherboard did the trick fixing my ps2 port, i had tried tons of plist and kext hack which didnt work at all and this solved the problem i really hope the on board lan issues can be solved in the future as for vmware i havent test it out yet i fixed them by installing latest kext taken from apple developer thx to insanely mac again now my Philips USB sound card works perfectly out of the box together with my bluetooth and any other usb devices As for USB devices, I tried thumb drive, USB Hard disk, smart card reader, eye-one (spectrometer) and dongle (for commercial software), no problem on retail leopard 10.5.4. Previously not working correctly under Kalyway 10.5.3. Which fix is it for usb uhci bus issue ? URL link, please. Thanks. This post has been edited by CPURanger: Sep 10 2008, 02:22 PM |
