as the S5 user .. eventhough it is a pro-sumer cam,i can say the outcome from the cam so far doesnt seem to let me down on its abiltity espacially when u shoot outdoor and night.. plus u dont need to think about getting a new lens because in S5 its all there.. and the best part is the super macro modes !!

about D40, it is also a good cam which is good for beginners..my fren use this cammie and the pic quite impressed me..but then, u gotta have a good hand while shoot otherwise ur pic turn out blur bcus it doesnt have a IS support ..need a good handheld and a tripod for a better image..have to spend lotsa cash on getting another lens+equip for ur satisfaction bcus human instinct are always want more..right ?hehe
