A lot of buyers associate Perodua with ToyotaAtiva is clearly Rocky, and Raize, a JDM model. Vios, City are locally assembled, not even sold in Japan. QUOTE(JoeK @ Feb 27 2021, 10:55 AM) Okay. Fair enough. yeah i think they definitely should, infact its my opinion that they should focus more on saying whats not right about the car in videos, rather than whats right. cause when you say things that are right mostly and dont cover whats not right, people will think they car only has good things going for it. Local car reviewers need to do like Matt Watson where they put 5 annoying things in every video. But i do remember adrian from wapcar criticising myvi head unit before. the way i see it, each car is not perfect and has its own drawbacks, so it is a matter of seeing if you can cope with the car's flaws or not, hence why it is very important to emphases the bad sides of the car besides the good sides dogbert_chew liked this post

QUOTE(ycs @ Feb 27 2021, 10:57 AM) well, i think they have a right to do that to be honest. its just because such is the situation with malaysia is that the jaga rice bowl style is by not offending the carmakers. and i think why this is the case is because malaysia's size is not big enough in the sense that media can rely solely on their huge amount of reach and audience to earn a living. compare to UK or Europe, their audience is in the hundreds of millions, so things like their potential subscriber count all those can also reach very high to the point where it is in the millions, so you can easily earn a comfortable amount just by surviving on views revenue. then add in one or two large sponsors and you are good to go, dont have to rely on those car makers to feed you the money through sponsorships and all instead. the easiest example i can give is those tech youtuber like mkbhd, he has 16 mil subs, can rely fully on views for revenue, get sponsorship from dbrand, earn from his merch since he got so high following, and with his financial situation sorted as a business he can focus on providing legit content. i remember he also say he buys most of his tech to review, hence why he is able to share is personal thoughts rather than be binded by a company's SOP or goodwill as well. back in malaysia and our topic's context, malaysia in itself is not as big, and not to forget each language has its own segment in the automotive space as well (english portals cover english audience, malay portals cover malay market, chinese etc) so the share of the audience pie is even smaller to that extent. thats why i feel the balance of "power" will be on the car maker's side and that leads to less quality in reporting since media relies on them alot for previews, or sponsorship |

QUOTE(Boom Mortar @ Feb 27 2021, 11:02 AM) ayam feel u bro...ayam ex maibi user too 100%, my next car die die must be ride comfort as number 1 quality, with handling a close second haha hence ride comfort quality putted at first priority than those accessories such as asa,led headlight etc... actually right, i kinda notice alot of car reviewer here saying things like ASA, LED headlight, ADAS etc etc all good for safety, but i never hear them cover the passive safety of car which i feel is even more important. im speaking in terms of the car's chassis build, and things that proton did to make their car safer "engine detachment when collision", cause if you have all the tech safety features but yet the car still kemek in a crash, whats the point? thats what im confused (and concerned) about with the car media lately, they are focusing more on active safety rather than passive safety. clear example is the current vios and yaris, they are always lauded for having high safety kits but did you know their a pillars still crush on impact? i never heard any media person cover this aspect when they released the updated yaris and vios end last year. dogbert_chew liked this post
