Xiaomi phones have a reputation for being great value for money in terms of price to hardware specs and performance, however the software overlay is not everyone's cup of tea. It has plenty of unnecessary apps that you don't need and can't remove without extra effort, some of the stock apps have annoying advertisements and once a while you'll encounter a bug or two here and there. Since you currently use a Pixel, I'm guessing the OnePlus' cleaner and lighter user interface will be more around your wheelhouse, but OnePlus phones don't offer the same value for money proposition that they used to. Best wait and see since the launch of the OnePlus 9 is imminent. If anything, you can get the older OnePlus 8 Pro at a discounted price once the new one launches.

No, there’s no ad in the interface but just on the stock apps, like file manager, cleaner, etc. And no, there’s no need to root your phone in order to remove the ads or unwanted apps. Plenty of tutorials on YouTube out there.

Haha, I got the dates wrong - they announced the launch date on the 9th but the actual launch is on 23rd. Not long to go

ROG rarely prioritise their camera performance so I wouldn’t bet my life savings on that

The flagship phones cycle usually starts send this time so yeah, it’s interesting to see what’s coming up. This year Samsung got a head start on everyone with their S21 series.

I think the appetite for a flagship Mi phone is somewhat dampened by the fact that they are releasing so many value-for-money mid-rangers at less than half the price of their flagship phones. If you’re just a casual user in the market now for a Xiaomi, there’s the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Poco F3 and the Poco X3 Pro (if you don’t mind an LCD display) as very viable alternatives to the Mi 11 - and at much cheaper prices.

I used to own a Redmi Note 5 Plus and a Redmi Note 7, they’ve definitely made huge strides for the Redmi Note 10 Plus. Ordered mine from Lazada but still yet to receive it. It must be selling like hot cakes, haha..

Oh, and another thing, I bought my Mi 10 late last year at RM1,999 (plus another 10% coins cash back on Shopee) so another reason why many are holding back on the Mi 11 could be they are waiting once again for the steep discounts - like me

I tried a few Xiaomi phones and I would say my last two, Mi 10 and Poco X3 NFC did not have much issues with GPS. The issue was pretty bad with my older Redmi Note 5 Plus and Redmi Note 7 back in the day but I thought they’ve more or less fixed it already.

Ahh, I see... Still, not justified to spend that much extra for just those features. hopefully they'll have another round of discounts for the Mi 11 like they did the Mi 10 last year and sell it for 1,999 to clear stocks
