Cost cutting :-(

aiyah..machines haven't update their site yet....can't wait to give them a call tomorrow.

This was just announced, maybe after a day or two then Apple Authorized Reseller will update the price list and stuff. Just like few days ago about the iPod touch and iPod Shuffle new price list and models.

aiduh.. Don't expect they will *update* that fast mar. Just announce on Apple site.

Based on the MBA exchange rate, I'm expecting the new MBP to start at RM6999, the new Macbooks to start at RM3899.

Oh well i was gonna get the base macbook anyways so the extra 100mhz shouldnt be much of a difference (i think!)

Planning to upgrade the rams and hdd also.

not "true". Cos' it is based on Intel Penryn Processor.

If I had the cash would go for the MBP instead, comes with multi touch trackpad now..

The biggest plus is the extended battery life. Although its great but I cant wait any longer, scared my sponsor change his mind again and end up with nothing

hmmm my next target is the imac... so i wait for the new update then buy straight away.... don't wait further.... if not buy then less than 2 mths got new update

One thing I learnt from Apple's products is NOT to worry about updates, one of the major difference from Windows based / PCs is that even old Macs runs as good as new line ups, even with new OS...

Yeah, but for me I'm more worry about new updates.

Just like Windows Vista, new OS everything in your PC's gotta be new.

for iMac la. Well you can buy straight now. Or else, you better wait further. My best speculation is mid of this year or later. iMac sure will be using Penryn Processor soon.

Previous macbook? It is core2duo (forgot the codename processor). Basically it is an update to the older version of Core2Duo. Penryn is still under Core2Duo family but a better one. And it support SSE4.1 (IINM). With SSE4 or SSE4.1, it will help in performance area. U can find more info at wiki.

Added on February 26, 2008, 11:36 pmIt's an argument again. It is not about "old macs machine can run a new OS". It's about technology here. Penryn will intro SSE4 and it helps in performance area. Another thing is previously version (non-santa rosa macs) is still 32bit machines. You can't run a 64bit apps. Technology my friend. Since Apple switch to Intel, Apple need to be in the "trend". It is not about OS thingy.

mid year?? no problem.... better wait for the latest update, but it the next day it arrive....

Oh well technology move so fast, before you know it the current tech already outdate/replaced by a new one few months later. So I might aswell just the get it and get done with it, no more waiting game
