QUOTE(masicecre @ Jan 3 2008, 01:55 PM) Thanks for the quick reply. surely no problem with the formating. But maybe few specific effects don't work on mac office. And now mac office 2008 goin release soon. But lets say I'm using mac office, can the mac office files be opened in windows office immediately, or will there be formatting problems? (e.g. paragraph indentations, etc.) Basically, will there be a problem in using mac office, in a windows office environment? Also, are there any macbook pro 15" users here who've had any stability/durability problems? I travel frequently and will not be able to pop in to a service center as and when i feel like it. So durability is a key issue for me. |

QUOTE(slacx @ Jan 4 2008, 09:27 AM) you don't need install antivirus. I got a few people who encounter problem while their machine got antivirus. Somtimes it auto-scan things like when you put your dvd in. And it takes longer time to read the dvd Firewall, yes!! Just enable it at your system preference |

QUOTE(yetieater @ Jan 11 2008, 01:38 PM) I've been using some cheap USB 2.0 hub that I picked up at Lowyat without any issues for a while now. They shouldn't pose any problems, but do what you want with your money. yea.. just get a cheap one. It works fine. If you rich, then go for those branded 1 la. |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jan 11 2008, 03:44 PM) @allvin, you have to ask civic98. And how much is a branded one versus a no-brand one? And am I the only one who's not fully utilising my USB ports too? *grins* Just what on earth do u people do with all the available ports? (having said that, 2 USB ports really isn't a lot!) For me, as long as I find it cheap and make sure do some digging la before you buying the "cheap" things. Personally, brand or non-brand USB hub does not really matter. Just USB port btw Hmm.. if you hardcore, 2 USB for the cooler pad (kiasu version). xD Then, wired keyboard and mouse. Even, external hdd casing also need 2 USB cos of the powercable is using USB as well. |

QUOTE(vetkin_gray @ Jan 15 2008, 11:20 AM) macbook has only two usb ports which is way too little.. last time i bought a wireless mouse which got a big freakin usb receiver and i couldnt pug in another usb since the ports are built cosely together, so annoying.. well, why don't you buy USB Hub? Market price roughly around Rm25-30 for that 4-port USB Hub.so my resolution for now is, get a bluetooth mouse, and a firewire 400 HDD |

QUOTE(vetkin_gray @ Jan 15 2008, 07:34 PM) hubs? no way.. hubs make you look like a tech geek, and make u seem so pathetic cos ur notebook's only got 2 usb, and what if i forgot to bring my hub? lol.. just my opinion, no offense well, that's your own problem lo. And btw, you bought your macbook right? Before you "pay" it, you should know that it only have 2 USB and you have to BARE with it or else don't buy. I also no offense dude. |

QUOTE(slacker @ Jan 16 2008, 01:50 PM) With the MacWorld Expo just finished, I was expecting there will be an announcement for a processor update of Macbook from Merom to Penryn. Dissappointed. Seems like it is unlikely. Anyone tried the upgrade themselves? macbook pro i assume. Macbook? I highly doubt it. Well, you just have to bare with Apple. Usually they have a specific date for the next revision. Earliest, it should be feb/march during the release of SDK for iPhone. Or else, mid of 2008 |

well, now buying mbp is not "worth" it cos it going to update sooner, pretty soon since penryn mobile processor arrival. If you buy at last Nov, I would say it much worth it than now.

QUOTE(daenvgiell @ Jan 21 2008, 03:29 PM) Hi, u mean the 'import'? yea.. it is normal. cos by default, mac osx (leopard) + iLife alone is already roughly 15Gb or more.I just got my MB, updated to 10.5.1 and install few small programmes. Then I found out I have used up about 20 Gb of capacity! How is that possible? Is that normal for a new Mac? |

QUOTE(c0t_c0t_c0t @ Jan 23 2008, 05:51 PM) i'm not sure about the older version of mb which is still using GMA 950. For SR (Santa Rosa) mb which using X3100, yes without a doubt. I've try it. Even 1080p media can play smoothly, but the thing is you need a FULL HD LCD tv or LCD monitor to support up to 1920x1080 resolution, then you can enjoy 1080p media till syok syok. |

QUOTE(yongkailoon @ Jan 23 2008, 11:30 PM) Well, I am considering to get a MacBook when I start college. Just some questions to ask based on your experience. I am planning to get the lowest spec of the MacBook which is priced at RM3999. Since it only has 80GB of hard disk and from what I read you guys mentioned that after installing the Mac OS and other applications it will be taking up around 20GB of space which leaves me with another 60GB to spare, does external hard disk have any issue with the MacBook (for those of you who are using external HDD for the MacBook) ? Speaking of hard disk, it is possible for me to upgrade it to 120GB if I want right, anyone knows roughly how much to add to upgrade it ? I am also planning to upgrade the RAM by purchasing a stick outside since it is much cheaper compared to getting it from Apple. err.. i don't think external hdd got issue. If you using the USB, then bare with the transfer speed. Best is using firewire port yes, you can upgrade the hdd yourself. It's very easy to upgrade also. Just need to un-screw few nutz and take the hdd out. If you get the apple hdd, i'm sure it will cost a bomb like the ram. Just remember that lower end macbook comes with combo drive, which cannot burn dvd but can read dvd and write cd |

QUOTE(yongkailoon @ Jan 23 2008, 11:47 PM) In that case probably the upgrading would be better off with a DIY since it'll be cheaper. Yes I am aware of the combo drive which can't write DVDs but I am okay with it as I do not burn DVD and even my desktop now has a DVD burner but I have not burn any DVDs before. Thank you for your advice. yep. Better DIY. Once you unscrew it, you will see the ram slots and the hdd. So it is consider very easy la. QUOTE(dragna @ Jan 23 2008, 11:51 PM) hmm Rm699.. Is it cost a bomb? |
