So... my old 3770K desktop seems to have issues with the SATA ports. Got a few BSODs related to the page file, turned out the SATA SSDs were getting disconnected from the mobo. Swapping cables didn't appear to change things. Would using a PCIE to SATA adapter work with the boot drive plugged to it?
I expect them to give up the CPU market this year for everything except 5800X3D until Zen4 comes out, instead of dropping Zen3 prices.

They will chase for profits, and they will make far more cash off Epyc than Ryzen anyway.

Is all the sata ports on the Mobo acting this way?

Not a problem. Adjust the bclk/pcie ratio. Cpu those era when bclk oc is a thing, can usually handle 200mhz anyways.

Yall probably came after the era where overclocking you need a calculator and a notebook to count all the freq and multipliers because the bios doesnt calculate for you.... then when tweaking terlupa change one multiplier pc crash, restart cmos then zzz have to set everything from scratch laugh.gif no such thing as profiles either.

Skylake onwards io and pcie is separated iinm. So alderlake bclk only affects memory, cache and core.. though im not so sure about this. That's why dont see the bclk/pcie ratio settings.

I looked at some reviews, if we cap the 13900K power limit to 170W, it is still producing very good performance.

What if we cap it to like 140W, will the 13 gen chip still perform better vs AMD?

Is it about PC Gaming? Then simple for me, see which CPU is doing the best for the game which I myself play a lot in real world benchmark, then get that CPU.

Currently the Ryzen 5800X3D is killing it in Flight Simulator with its huge cache., especially in VR.

Slightly off topic from item, on the topic of VR, which VR headset package that is advisable for PC gaming usage available in M'sia?

Can we just use the 13700K by just capping the max power to like 150-180W? it still provide ample performance without the high temps.

Hi Guys, did you all manage to find any article or information which shows the performance vs power consumption scaling of the raptor lake and AMD 7000 series with the power measurement is done physically either from the power outlet at the wall or from the motherboard?

Linus tech tips

Gamer meld

Gamers nexus

Try search on youtube

I tried youtube, example like gamers nexus, they do state that they measure the power from the EPS12V, but they do not perform a power scaling testing.
Linus channel do not do power scaling as well.
Der8bauer do have the power scaling test, but not sure if it is direct measurement or just reading from software like HWInfo.
The closest I found(with my limited time) on google is the PCWorld 13900K testing.

I'm just trying to look at the efficiency comparison between intel and AMD. Example for 2 similar system, one runs the 7950x vs the 13900K, both system power limits adjusted to the very close power draw measured at the wall, which system performs better in certain task at multiple power levels.

It triggered my interest after reading the Anandtech power scaling article:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/17641/lighte...-13900k-7950x/4
It mentions that the settings vs the power draw have some discrepancy.

Is Intel generation 11 laptop still worthy for purchase? For the usage of work and light gaming for next few years

Not sure about other laptop, but for a Dell 14in Latitude, the fans keep spinning up for whenever you are doing any simple task.
That is my experience with it.

Yes, still consider whether to buy dell 3420 latitude because they is discount deal for staff. But will the generation 11 processor laptop obsolete soon?
*
Obsoletion is not such a big issue in my opinion if what you are doing with the laptop is normal daily office work stuff. It is more of the 11 gen processor runs really hot to get those performance.
I would say those 12gen and above should be much better in terms of performance vs the temps and fan noise for the dell latitude.

it is just sad that intel did not provide a good cpu this generation to compete with AMD. the pricing for the new 9800x3d must be through the roof later.

What cpu to upgrade to now?
