is RM1300 for a used i7 8700k a common price at the moment? thinking of selling mine to upgrade it but not sure how much i could fetch together with the mobo

also, will delidding make it worth less or more?

8th gen i7 & 9th gen i7 & i9 at high price is common, but it's a bad price for any buyer right now. i doubt any desperate buyer will pay RM1300 for that. tongue.gif

yea not much are being listed and those that are being listed, they're listing it for over 1k for the cpu so i was a little surprised

In their dreams. When you have 10600K at RM1000ish and 11600K at RM1139 with full warranty and delidding not required. RM800 is already generous offer for a no warranty CPU.

that's what i thought too, was thinking no way these cost over 1k after several years and intel releasing newer cpus.

I just sold my no warranty i9-9900KS (Special edition, not standard K) + 2 years warranty left Giga Z390 Aorus Master combo for RM1.5k last month... rolleyes.gif

Urs? even 600 is too much to ask for (CPU only).

thanks for the info! now i got an idea of where to start for the pricing

I delidded my i7-4770k when it just a month old. I don't know where my bravery come from. Using a vice and hair dryer. The proc slipped when in the process i assert the force causing the PCB hit and clamped by the vice, one side of the PCB top layer delaminated together with the trace.
Surprisingly no damage to the proc and i used it for 4 years before change to i9.
Now it still sit on the mobo since day one of delidded because i didn't glue back the heatspreader. tongue.gif

im waiting for my delid tool to arrive from china and already ordered the conductonaut as well

thinking of not wanting to reglue the IHS also but it might be a hassle eyeballing it on the cpu socket tongue.gif

Intel Alder Lake-S Desktop CPU To Support DDR4, DDR5, And PCIe 5.0
The new 12th generation CPUs will seemingly be a next-generation I/O smorgasboard.

12700k sounds cheap but we'll have to see how it really performs first tongue.gif

hi guys,

im looking to upgrade my 5 y/o system so i'm eyeing the z690 architecture

my current base is gonna be the Z690 Aorus Pro DDR4 but i kinda want the 13th gen as well. i'm going with ddr4 as it doesnt seem beneficial to be swapping to ddr5 atm and new z790 boards are supposedly switching jedec spec to 5600 so any ddr5 boards i buy now are kinda gonna be obselete soon

is there any leak that's hinting >10% leap over current 12th gen like for example, 13700k vs 12700k in games?

should i just get 12600k and call it a day?
