Sounds like Binance punya BTCDOWN. Basically something like CFD lah. You're not exactly shorting it, it's just working based on value tracking.

you can short ETF, but not BTC.

And for that matter, you cant manipulate BTC prices like the traditional stock market. There are ways but thats a different story for another day

This is just value tracking. It doesn't affect the price of BTC. It's like paper trading/virtual acc but with actual money a.k.a betting. For price to be affected, there needs to be actual trading of the asset. Shorting works by borrowing the actual asset but there's a 2-3 days lag. You cannot short BTC because you cannot borrow it. If you can borrow BTC, you can literally run away with it and nobody can do anything once it's in your wallet. Also, the transaction doesn't take 2-3 days to clear.

You should really read all of them. Those are all value-tracking as explained in my previous post. It does NOT affect the price. The gain comes from the price.

There's a reason why Bill Gates says he would short crypto DIRECTLY, if he could. He can't because it's not possible.
