Would depends on how strong each core performs. Unlike GPU, in general purpose processors more core doesn't necessarily equate to more processing power, especially for applications that doesn't utilizes parallel processing.

Maybe it's naive 4 core architecture might help it in apps that supports up to 4 threads simultaneously against Intel's 2x2 architecture, only if its single core performance is high enough.

So it still goes down to how each core performs.

That's with some ridiculously high clocked R600s and a 5ghz kentsfield. 3DMark is still GPU biased, so obviously he's just making it up.

2 2900XTs are monsters in 3Mark, but filling 3000-5000 3Marks on the CPU side only? Fishy fishy. (Maybe the link you gave was single card, didn't see CF indication)

Unless it's RD790, which in all cases shows to a very competitive board design, but it just still doesn't have the magnitude to pull off something like this.

actually i trust no one, its just same thing happened when inquirer reveal the first radeon HD 2XXX series benchmark, no one really believe it, they said ATI is slower than nvidia's offering. maybe 95% of stories are true on the inquirer, you wouldn't know.. wait till someone get the real barcelona benchmarks. i know intel fans wont agree on anything that is faster than core 2 moreover if it is from sites like the inquirer hehe

No, 5% of the stories are true. The radeon info they had earlier was one of the few true stories. This one is not true, it's impossible.

I'm more interested on Kuma and Agena instead of Barcelona. It is a socket F/F+ processor right? Also there's Agena FX for AM2/AM2+, low-end ones IINM. Others, socket F/F+
