Here are some things you can do as you do not wish to go back to the office to work. Take it from me where I've left my job back in Jan/Feb due to my new department not doing very well.
1. Actively look for freelance jobs online It doesn't matter if it's a freelance/part-time job just take something that brings you money quickly. I'm currently doing this also and have received a couple of new gigs in the last 1-2 weeks. Pay rate is middle-ish and can pay for my insurance, bills, and food for now. If I were to be renting elsewhere then the gigs' payments will not be able to cover that. But for now, I'm living with family so its ok. I also noticed how some LYN users suggest doing freelance works over Fiverr, Workana, etc. However, your luck in landing a solidly paid gig on there is very low. Sometimes you can have completed your work and submit, but you get ghosted on payment. 2. Sell useful 2nd hand items you have Don't sell junk like clothes and whatever. Sell items that are useful but you may no longer need it. Like for example: old mattresses that are still in good condition, books, piano, etc. Small money but you'll still get money. 3. Go into home F&B Not sure how good you are in cooking and baking. Some of my ex-colleagues they bake cakes and cookies and sell to white-collared people. One of my ex-colleagues made cookies and it seems she did it really well. Now she's opened her own hawker stall and has been selling East Malaysian Chinese food. Income may fluctuate every now and then but if you have a solid following, then it's fine. 4. Grab/Uber/Food Panda Not sure if you are keen on being a Grab driver or a food delivery person but perhaps this is something you can do? Instant money coming in if you've made enough in a day or week. 5. Health or personal trainer Bit off of a suggestion but if you are a certified health and fitness trainer, perhaps you can be someone's personal trainer. Can do paid-per-class if you wanna. ------------ Some of the suggestions I see here are great but they take time for it to be able to make or generate money. Like making YouTube videos. If you don't have a certain amount of views and subs, your YT income will be as dismal as what you've raked in. Also, at the initial start-up stage, you wouldn't be earning much, if anything at all, upon setting up your channel. Affiliate marketing sites like Shopee, Lazada, etc., you need to do some advertisements to push your online shop out. Think from the perspective that if you cannot make money from no money, then you cannot make money from having money. Online trading, crypto, all need some kind of capital before you are able to make any sort of money. Tutoring? I think you have a better chance of going straight to a tuition centre or any education institutions and say you are interested. Submit any demo of your teaching class samples and your CV. Hope things turn out well for you mate. Job market now is ridiculously sluggish. This post has been edited by Redshelf411: May 21 2021, 10:58 PM |

Hi. I'm sorry to hear about your job loss. I believe that earning money online can be difficult, but it is doable in Malaysia. Proofreader, web developer, and the online teacher are a few examples. Fiverr is one of the platforms you can use. I believe that online teaching is the best bet. When you are successful, you can earn a lot of money. Otherwise, you could become a part of Grab or Foodpanda. They are also becoming more common nowadays.
