If you always stress your engine and travel frequently, you can't follow the guideline to change your engine oil at intervals of 5K km(semi syn/mineral) or 10K km (fully syn). I've seen some people that change their fully syn engine oil at every 5K to 6K KM simply because they travel very frequently and the engine oil is black and sticky when they change it.
If your engine oil is still clear and fluid (not dark/polluted or sticky), you can still drive around, just dont over do it
erm...i think its the other way aroundIf your engine oil is still clear and fluid (not dark/polluted or sticky), you can still drive around, just dont over do it
long distance travel is good for synths
if u travel alot, then u can rack up to 20k in a year on your synth before you have to change it
but if u travel very little, even if its 5k a year, then at year's end, you should change your engine oil
i've heard of people that push some newer cars to 40k on synths
but i dont think thats advisable unless explicitly stated by the car's manufacturer
synths are way more durable compared to minerals or semi synths and do not breakdown as easily
changing a synth after just 5k is a pure waste of money
might as well just use mineral then

if your engine oil is still clean even after you used it, i suggest you stay away from that engine oil next time
engine oil has got cleaning particles in it, thats why it will turn to darker colours after some mileage
if the engine oil stays clean even after you use it, meaning it doesnt clean the internal of your engine, and its rubbish
err...i dont think engine oils does not have cleaning 'particles'engine oil has got cleaning particles in it, thats why it will turn to darker colours after some mileage

it has cleaning 'agents' i.e. detergents

I have the habit of changing before it reaches 5000km mark. It doesn't really matter much coz I travel about 10000km+ per year...changing early can only be good for the engine.
If you wanna save money on black oil, go for the cheaper oil. Its much better than dragging with dirty oil over and over again.

the oil film strength is not as good and therefore might cause excessive wear on your moving parts
not to mention they dont have cleaning agents like the better oils
you would be doing long term harm to your engine which would manifest in more costly overhauls in the future
if u want to save money, just go for good regular minerals
not semi or full synths
