I just bought a cheap 2nd hand laptop, Lenovo i5 Thinkpad. RM850 je, got LAN, got camera, got microphone, upgraded to use SSD. Quite fast, can online class easily. New laptop too expensive, tab screen too small. I prefer laptop coz I can use LAN cable, wifi is too unstable in my house

Can be control if the parent willing enough to learn parental settings on Windows. I last time control nephews by making sure their account don't have admin access and certain application can run. I even restrict the time and day they can use the PC.

Even until now my dad laptop, I only give him user access with no admin rights for fearing he might accidentally install malware/virus. So far laptop haven't had any issues.

Why spend so much money on expensive laptop. Old Thinkpad T series with a gen 3 CPU should be more than enough for normal school work. Should be around rm400 (2gb ddr3, 250gb HDD) + rm80 ssd + rm80 for 4gb ram. Good machine already.

I bought Samseng ndroid Tablet and cheap China brand bluetooth keyboard for kid. RM1k. Brand new. Better than laptop as very light. You will need to pay RM5k for Surface Pro to match this portability. Used by kid in school.

Had similar setup, samseng tab s3. But cheap china bt keyboard are horrible for typing lot of words tho laugh.gif
In the end use logitech wireless keyboard with BT. Much better experience.

of course we as a tech savvy know how to do it, but most parents generally dont even know anything about computers or some dont even know how to control a mouse or a trackpad

Better get a Thinkpad more reliable. I am currently a t60 for Linux, w500 windows 10 and x140e windows 10/dos gaming machining. Office work using a t460.

That's a big problem. I'm the only one in my family tech savvy enough to do this, the rest are just blank about it.

Digital Mall lah. Almost same price everywhere. It's 10.1 inch good enough. Buy cheap bluetoothwireless keyboard and mouse.

Because I kecian my kid need to carry heavy laptop to school. Now it's just 1/3 of the laptop weight (including the power bricks).
