Unfortunately, I have limited knowledge of insurance, so all information has to rely on the agent.

The new agent is newbie and may be inexperienced, which causing this mess. For now, I gonna follow the guidance of the Old Agent, like he suggested - sending an email to GE to appeal. Which the New Agent claims it's impossible as the free-look period has expired.
*
It's not impossible lah.

And the new agent... yes, is a newbie, but he/she prolly has a superior guiding them. The superior is not a newbie.
Like what someone else said, you can actually file a complaint to GE against the agent and name the agency for such practices.

Hi guys, need some clarification. Currently looking at allianz i-essential life plan.
The TNC "the premium payment term for this plan is 10 years" mean the policy will be renewed every 10 years?
"The premium for this plan is level" mean even though after 15 year my premium is still the same as entry age at 35 years old?
*
Bro, I suggest you read the entire document rather than just focusing on one part and start asking questions to further confuse yourself.

But to answer your question, this is a 10-year term life product.
What this means is that it covers you for a total of 10 years.
After the 10-year term is up, neither you nor the insurer owes each other anything.
You shake hands and part ways.

Should you wish to continue having the same coverage, you're welcome to put in an application again, to be underwritten again at that age, and subject to the rates at that age.
If the underwriters decide "why not?" then you get the coverage.
If the underwriters decide "macam need more money" then you still get the coverage, but cough up more money.
If the underwriters decide "I think too risky for us" then you get to keep your money.

hi gurus, my friend have a medical insurance under great eastern, the sick he have is cyst in his mouth require operation at his mouth at a dentist clicnic. i want to ask, does this operation cover under great eastern insurance, the agents looks like bullshit with my friend and keep on questioning why do the operation at dentist there.
*
Hi, I am also an insurance agent. From AIA Malaysia.

I also want to ask the same question.
Why do operation at the dental clinic?

The worst fear I have is to tell my client - cannot claim.
I believe the agent also share the same fear, hence his/her line of questioning.
And almost all individual medical insurance products that has EVER been sold in Malaysia excludes dental procedures unless it is due to accident, reconstructive surgery, etc.

Can the dental clinic put in an application for admission GL?
Not just for GE, ANY insurer at all.
I believe the operation is scheduled kan? No need to perform it right there and then kan?
Maybe have the clinic put in a request for GL with GE? No harm kan?

After all, it is just a cyst removal procedure kan?
Mana2 hospital pun boleh buat lah

Same with life insurance. You didn't die. So family didn't get pay out. As long as money in KWSP, your family payout will be higher with time. This is not the case with life insurance. Your payout is fixed. If you die early then consider bonus. You die later not so much.
*
With Life Insurance, the amount is a sure thing.
It is guaranteed to my family.
Die earlier or later, it is guaranteed to be there. Bound by a legal contract.
Creditor proof.

I don't know about you or other forumers here.
But I have been damn near broke once in my younger days. Long story short, scared already.

Now that I have a wife and kid, there are just some situations when money is needed and I cannot say "don't have" or "not enough".
It has to be a definite "yes".
So I need such guarantees.
Maybe you don't. But I need it.
People like me needs it.

I am not insurance agent but I have never heard of procedures done in dental clinic can be claimed under our medical insurance. My guess would be no as it would be deemed as a dental procedure.
*
So long as it is nothing to do with teeth, or the jaw, or aesthetics, can be claimed wan.

Just that for what want to so susah go against the insurance claims procedures & requirements?

Really so free, after the procedure done then can spend time running totally unnecessary paperwork meh?

A lot of great discussions happened throughout the weekend.

From what I can gather, many are hunting for bargains.
Cheaper premiums, higher coverages. Who wouldn't want this winning combination? Only a fool would say no to this.

Yet there seem to be little discussion on the point of relevance.
Is what you are looking at relevant to your current situation, objectives and goals for the future?
Some seasoned advisors did bring it up, no surprises there, yet nobody bothered. Why? So long that it is cheap and the coverage number looks big, you guys are okay to buy it regardless of whether or not it works FOR you? Come on man...

Did you know you can buy Personal Insurance from the post office too? It's cheap and Pos Malaysia is everywhere! Rangkaian terbesar!
No need to follow you. They already there, and they are going to be there all the time.

And I'd like anyone who would bother, to humor me this.
Say you are now the insurance company. How would you handle this situation:
Someone reaches out on your website requesting assistance from any of your agents.
It makes sense to make it geo-sensitive. So you source from among your agents active in the local area. Common sense.
But will you send your best and brightest, or will you send the company idiot...?
How little respect do you have for your own time?
Or is it just that cheap that it is insignificant, can easily write off?

Well you seem to be the kind that prefer to play a certain character when meeting with these intermediaries sent your way.
It is your way of sizing up the intermediary kan?
You said it yourself.
Would you put out your numbers for the intermediary to have a thorough discussion, if you attend to the appointment with that in mind?
My assumption, certainly not.

So if nobody is talking, what is the next logical thing is the intermediary to do?
Nothing really, other than to become a broken recorder and regurgitate whatever he/she remembers from their latest product training about their latest product.
And what is the industry trend? ILP loh... Latest shiniest product will be an ILP.

Ni nak buat macam mana nih?

The longer you stay in the pool, the lesser the money left. More prone to increase. If you are healthy, no illness you can jump to new plan.  If standalone easy to jump. If ILP not so easy to jump. Up to you to jump or not.

Aiseh... means you're not taking full advantage of AIA Vitality benefits with your MediFlex plan.

Rather than cracking your head trying to "abuse" insurance, why not get rewarded for keeping an active lifestyle?
I'm sure you agree that nothing is worth trading your health kan?
Why not get rewarded for keeping a healthier longer and better life?

Check around (if you care to) and you'll realize that Vitality program is now actively contributing to better claims experiences, hence some here are saying that they are not experiencing as steep a rate hike compared to the others.

You don't have to trust me.
Go dig up the numbers from your own research.

hi Sifussss out there, I use to buy my insurance directly from agent and still is but is there any difference buying via bancaassurance or directly online with insurance company? It looks cheaper but will I miss out anything aside from the risk aspect of it? I was told agent suppose to balance your risk and finances to ensure that you don't over or under insure... any thoughts?
*
I like that you asked, amidst the agent-bashing going on.

I do have a handful of customers paying 6 and 7 figures in premiums annually.
And I was referred to a new uncle recently in is late 60s.
Long story short, he was ready to cough upwards of 90k to take up a life insurance for himself as his company benefit will cease as soon as he retires.
Heng ah. Jit pai hoseh liao loh rclxm9.gif

However upon some questioning and understanding his situation a bit more, we ended up with just a medical insurance for himself.

I reasoned his way out of taking up a coverage that would be nice to have, but totally unnecessary.
He was ready to cash out his paid-up Universal Life policy (Singapore), but I talked him into retaining it. With good reason of course.

Now of course all this didn't happen all in one sitting.
I met with him a total of 4 times, before we met on a 5th time for the application to happen.

Now this guy owned and operated a VC firm in his time. Very shrewd guy and helped connect a lot of missing dots from the stories I hear from my existing clients (somehow my main customer base are 20 years my senior at least).
It has always made me wonder why is it that these somebodies would set aside the time needed with me, while my peers and many on this great forum just fail to see past my commissions.
I got to eat too, no?

I remember got 1 case, a woman went to see psychiatrist for mental issue did not disclose to GE.

then later on she kena cancer, claim insurance

GE rejected and refund and cancelled her insurance

she sued n won.

Buying an insurance policy is like buying a warranty.
Nowadays buy things can get extended warranty for a fee kan?

So let's say you are the shop and I am the customer.
When I come to you to buy a laptop, and you sell it to me. I happy, you also happy.
Then you ask "eh actually hor, got extended warranty for only 500 ringgit leh. Want or not?"
Then I reply "sure or not? Eh the warranty there say if cannot fix, 1-to-1 replacement leh. Only 500 ringgit? Bluff me izzit"
Then you say "confirm sure la, not i say leh, printed here big big not only you see leh, everyone walk in here also see. Confirm not bluff la"
At that point in time, sure can buy the warranty right?
Sebab the product still in the shop, never left the shop everybody clear nothing happened yet ma.

But if I rejected "dowan lah, mai luan." and left the shop.
2 weeks later I come back to the shop and want to buy the extended warranty now.
You sell to me or not?
Sure won't sell la, cuz you are rational and sane ma.

So in the case above, the woman had the mental issue PRIOR to the application.
We call this a "non-disclosure".
Who bluff who?
This is what it looked like on the surface.

Then subsequently she sued and won.
To be fair, baaaaaaaack in time, health questionnaire macam didn't ask.
And even then, the final question in the health questionnaires are usually "any other health issues not disclosed in the above questions".
So technically, not that she didn't disclose, the application form didn't ask also.
Which goes on to further emphasize the importance of full disclosure when applying for insurance.
The way I see it, it was quite a stretch to use the anxiety attack to deny the claim la.

The lady rich lah. So she can afford to sue.
You can afford to sue, then roll the dice la, take the chance.
Cannot afford to sue, then disclose baik2. Mai luan.

Hi, I have questions about the payout from a life insurance policy. So my late bro had a life insurance policy with AIA and the named beneficiaries are his 3 kids, but only 1 kid has a Msian IC with a local bank account, and the other 2 have become Australian citizens and dont have a local bank account.

Will the insurance company:
Q1) pay the whole amount to the one local bank account since they are siblings?
Q2) or can they pay to their Australian bank accounts? what documentation is reqd?

Hope someone can help! Thanks
*
The insurance company will have to pay to the named beneficiaries accordingly.

So put in the application for death claim accordingly.
Just need to provide evidence that the deceased is the parent, and they are the sons named as beneficiaries.
Like a birth cert (father's name and IC is in the birth cert).

Can any of the agents please assist in this matter?

Assuming he is being completely truthful and zero such history of back and neck pains.

I've known him many years, he does have some health conditions (duly declared and claimed under that same insurance in the past) but no back/neck pains.
*
Respond back to the underwriter "I have no recollection of back and neck pains, nor have I made any such medical claims on a problem that does not exist. Kindly clarify the source of information that led you to make such assumptions."

Basically, "why ah?"

The thing is the application form was submit and fill in by the agent himself. normally agent just ask general question whether applicant have history of health issue. I don't think everyone will read that thick book policy page by page. Anyway, I have few questions;

1. If the person insured got lasik surgery in the past and didn't declare it, later eyes got problem and need surgery whatsoever will the insurance company blame the patient for non-disclosure? common people like me will not think lasik surgery (short sighted) as an illness that need to declare.

2. If the person insured went to dental clinic in the past and record a high BP, will that consider diagnose already? even though no treatment/medication receive related to his BP as patient didn't go for screening in any other clinic/hospital?
*
1. yes, because it is a non-disclosure.
2. No. It will only serve as a record. The most underwriters can do is to seek clarification by requesting for a medical examination on the high bp.
It is understandable that blood pressure spikes when nervous ah, excited ah, etc.
I also nervous every time i go dentist.

Hi all,

May I ask, does anyone here (customer or agent) know if Great Eastern offers medical insurance (standalone or ILP rider) with deductibles?

Currently for SmartMedic Shield, there is only a RM300 deductible. I'm wondering if they have options for higher deductible e.g. RM30,000.

Thanks!
*
AIA offers deductibles up to RM 20,000.

With that said, I personally would like to encourage you to stick with a RM300 deductible plan.
Why leh?

As you are well aware, COI increases has been the talk of the past decade.
And it should not come as a shock as it has been evident that Malaysians are living longer lives, and so are their chronic conditions.

A RM 300 deductible is something that you and I can easily afford. No qualms about it.
But a RM 30,000 deductible is rather steep, at least for me.

Moving forward, the whole industry will be shifting towards co-insurance / co-pay.
What this means is that the insured agrees to pay a portion of the whole bill.
Can you then claim the portion that you paid from a different policy/plan under your name?
No.
You CAN claim the deductible amounts from the different policy, but you can't claim a co-insurance/co-pay.

Kthxbai, I'm gna masuk assunta d.
My body finally starting to break down.
