But we don't know when is next closing date and how large of the volume they need to close. I heard next Friday. But honestly no one know. Or at least I don't know if it's true or not.

Knowing that the company is overshort and short closures is just around the corner, many investor want to buy the stock for they know any hedge funds who short it is force to pay anything and any price to get their short position close.

Question again is what's the volume and how many current investors willing to hold, some might sell it at 400, some 500, some demand 5000.

If the hedge fund didn't clear their position (buy back the stock) what will happen to the themselves? they can drag it like forever or need to pay daily interest rate?

Value has nothing to do with the share price of gme anymore... Is all demand n supply now... There is a great demand of gme share from hf due to their overshorting strategy thus investors or retails investors holding the stock can demand for ransom due to no enough supply of stocks in the market..

Fyi there is no deadline for hf to fill the shorts.. for there will be daily/weekly interest to pay for each passing day for failure to return the loan shares.

Actually the owner did try to save their business when they knew their company shares is short.

Having said that, It is possible for their company to dilute their shares, and devalue the current owner share price + the risk of them not owning the company anymore. IDK if this is smart moves by the owner or owner want to make this move.

Owner selling their shares without diluting and exit the business will not work. The short is over 100%. Biggest shareholder only own 2.36 million shares, but the short shares is around 6 million? Point is short is over what is available in the market.
