Hello all, I'm getting some quotes for my built-ins and feature wall. Wanna ask, usually melamine or laminate is better for kitchen? I heard one is better for the base and the other for the wall hung cabinet. And if the prices makes sense. Attached are also some pictures for references. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Laminate best be used near places with high moisture or heat, other than that melamine will work fine, looking at contractor B, he quoted with the quartz ctp is it then cheaper than contactor A?

Thanks for the clarification, would suppose that means laminate for wall hung and melamine for base cabinet (opposite of what contractor B quoted). Contractor B quoted with quartz counter top, contractor A quoted without because when we approach him we were thinking of using tiles to cut cost. But for quartz top I'll just have to add 1.8k. So for dry kitchen+island Contractor A: MYR23,240 Contractor B: MYR 27,452

No no laminate for base and melamine for wall hung, which is correct, and PVC carcass basically functions like laminate where outer layer is pvc and inner is some form of filling like laminate wood chips or plywood. Go for the quartz top it will look way nicer.

And as for the shoe cabinet/tv console - i'm guessing melamine is the way to go?
