Hi, as per title. I bought a Western Digital Blue 1 tb hard disk from a seller in shopee. Unfortunately, it was dead on arrival as it cannot be detected even in bios (tried on two working PC). So what is the best next step I can take? Do RMA or ask seller replace new (if it is possible?) I don't think it's the seller's fault, as the drive's manufacture date was Dec 2020. I have bought at least 5 or 6 of this same model hard drives before (but not from the same seller la) but no problem whatsoever. Probably just received a lemon unit. Please advice. Thanks in advance

Just an update: Received the full refund from seller in my ShopeePay.

If the damage is caused during shipping = seller's responsibility, poor parcel protection

Better buy delicate stuff like HDD in person from lowyat or digital mall. Thrown more than 6inches will spoil it. Which can and will happen in transit. U think they kiss ur package like AA baggage handler wayang?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm in the process of returning the item to the Shopee seller. Never thought nowadays the process of returning item for Shopee is more convenient compared to Lazada. After the seller accepted the return & refund process, Shopee app will generate a barcode for me. I just need to bring the package to be returned to J&T Express nearby my house (surprisingly there's at least 5 J&T drop around me), let them scan the barcode and they will print out the return label for me, and I just leave the item with them. Everything is foc.

why RMA? I take it the drive failed few months after you bought it? In my case, the drive was DOA.

RMA WD need to send to SG, and it’s ain’t cheap even pre-MCO. MCO era I don’t think it’s gonna be economical at all.

One friendly PSA, take every picture/video of you repackaging it.

Cause the sellers might taichi and reject it in case the items are not returned in prime conditions. You need to prove you had done your due diligence and pack back at least the way they sent it to you.

Be-careful upon the unboxing.

You can reuse the same packaging and bubble wrap if you cut them nicely.

Some (a-hole) sellers might blame you the packaging/box got damaged and affecting them to resell it (yeah I know your unit is defective, but who knows what the sellers might think or do with it).

I bought around 5 wd blue previously (but from other seller la) last year. Alhamdulillah until now, every single one of them doesn't have any problem at all. So maybe this is lemon unit.

Or perhaps they should just deal with distributor since it’s DOA. Sellers and consumers probably have different terms.

As end consumer, RMA WD hard drive is PITA as need to send to SG. They will then send us a replacement drive (which is visibly different in sticker), I gotten mine from Vietnam last time.

My experience of lazada rma is alright

Psu from dotatech

Bought then use after 3 days it died. Contact them on store chat, showed that psu died via video then they tell me claim refund because cannot do replacement as they got no more stock. So I press refund button, got return slip, go to MBE and they handle the rest

Yup, Lazada's return service is alright too. I purchased a Xioami global rom version few years ago from a seller in Lazada. Turns out the phone heats easily and tons of crap apps were pre-installed inside the phone. Since the phone has 14 days return, I just ask for refund and drop it a nearby MBE.
