I think it is. There is not paper telling the invigilators what calculator models can be brought it or not. It just says cannot use a programmable one which 570ms or 570es both can't. So what i did was, i brought in a 350ms and 570ms and a 570es into the exam hall. When they asked why i brought in so many calculators, i told them "Takut bateri habis nanti"

heck, i'm in my final sem of my degree now, and i still use pencil for everything(test, exam, assignments), i think it's way more convenient than using pen, and liquid paper it later, makes things messy, and have to wait for the liquid paper to dry... so far no lecturers complain about it..

they advise against correction pen is due to the mess you might accidentally make during the exam.and,if you are using those cap ayam correction pen,you cant afford wasting time to let it dry.just cross out the mistake with a single line.much neater that way

5 series can be used during SPM. Actually the 5 series are supposed to be used for SPM while the 3 series are for PMR (Casio Scientific Calculators) but most of us are lazy to buy a new calculator since the old one still works and it saves money.

how many SPM students actually know how to use FX-570 to its full potential?

u can even perform Runge-Kutta method using FX-570. though u need 2 FX-570 at least and a lot of patience

those plotter type calculator not allowed lo in SPM coz they wan u to use ur brain 2 draw the graph. SPM max only draw x-y plane no nid so canggih lo.

Even in bachelor degree programs ur not allowed to use those calculator for graphing during exams.
Dun bother getting that calculator juz because "it might become handy" somedays. A PC and MATLAB is enuff to do the trick.

IMO it's not a problem using 570ES in SPM.. It's not programmable so why worry so much. Besides, actually this thread with this question has been opened before last year.

Many. I don't have a 350 with me now though, can't remember what 350 is capable of. All I remember is that 570 can do more than 350, and yes, for SPM syllabus alone.

basicly i used the 570 es and ms for my test this time, the es i use to solve equation and make sure the answer is correct, ms can do it too, jz that answer nt that accurate, (eg. instead of 30 degrees, it becomes3270 degrees which is also the same reference angle). MS is for fast calculation for me. ES for complicated stuffs

better dun use this. due to its fancy look and also the function is almost the same as the old FX570. but the fancy colour will attract the examiner attention. u use oldFX570 i think no problem .

They don't even know the definition of pre programmed calculators. The reason 570ES are banned is not because it has the ability to program formula but because some formula are pre programmed and it's text book input method means that student could basically poke everything in and get the answers out without working out a single thing.

Hell, even FX 991MS is not programmable, but those invigilators think they are too smart, they see high numbers, they call it programmable.

Anyone knows the exact usage of P(*, Q(*, R(* and -> for Normal Distributions? I only know how to use P and R, duno how to use Q and ->
*
I can't really remember, but P is for left and R is for right, right? Q is the middle one..or something like that.. Too rusty now rclxub.gif

I used ES for my SPM last year, along with tons of other people, no problem.

ES is the best thing since sliced cake. Just... lovely.

It integrates and differentiates much faster too, probably due to a better CPU.

UEC allows it, SPM would be insane not to.

Best thing is bring the ACTUAL box with you if you are scared. Bring in the Casio or Sharp or whatever brand calculator you have and its box. Show the fellas if they question you. I love it when students get to shut those fellas' mouths.

It's allowed, don't worry. I went into SPM with it. And mine was "modded" summore. I took out the casing and resprayed it white, so it looked like some cool gadget yo. wink.gif

Yeap, didn't have any problems at all.. Cuz the general outline + the button functions were still noticable, so it was "legal". laugh.gif

Can! As long as it's not programmable it's allowed.

SPM they don't check what calculator you bring in anyway.

I'm using FX-991ES thumbup.gif. Used for PMR so don't tell me cannot use for SPM. I know the 320 or something cannot do Differentiation so doesn't make much sense it's the only calc you can use.
