Not a Fender pro (far from it really...) here but I had my fair share. Can't really say about those bone or brass nuts.
Ps got some added mids growl (at least that's how I can describe it), I happen to own an old Yamaha ERB 300II PJ for years and had played both Fender and Squire Js and Ps. Thing is when it comes to tonal choices, I personally think that a J can easily cover that aspect over a P. Of course I can't say this out loud for everyone. Tried a J with hotter (I forgot which; Basslines or DiMarzio) pup set, it can give a P a good run but that still means that you should consider a pup transplant. The easiest method maybe is to notch up some more mids, level the lows and kill off the highs at EQs (choose your way; preamp or amp w/e works). Won't simulate a P exactly for sure but hey almost there is better than nowhere. IMO these days, Squires are generally fine wherever MIx they'd come from. I'd just worry about the woods and assembly quality. My 2 centslah. Let's wait for other low end gurus like bassraptor or bassix bros' posts. Should be interesting. QUOTE(Paramore @ Sep 8 2008, 03:08 AM) Alright, most people thinks that playing the Percision Bass with picks are the best. What do you think? Kinda... when most Ps packs that ever lovely mids and picks usually adds that hefty clicks which in turn rounds off a nice drive. Things is it's still is a preferential thing.I am reviving this thread anyway.. |

Any particular reason why would you need an MT-2 and a Big Muff o_O to the arsenal? OR you're just using those as an added EQ cut/boost and/or do you play guitar on the side? Is that a Maxon or MXR on the bottom far right of your board? I've experimented with guitar gain pedals before and it's the nastiest way (well for me at least) to actually "thin out" the signal. Eh nice Zoom that 1 I've been looking for it >.<:

Same with nimrod2 bro. The better advantage of going further than 2 fingers would be that it's a real boost to help with string skipping for some songs or your preferred play style.

QUOTE(Mythras231 @ Oct 9 2008, 12:05 PM) I like this bassist > I wanna be like him/her ... He/she improve the song in every song she played ! I think she use all 4 of his/her fingers to play I don't care how young she is but yeah she's getting to be one of those must watch out for player should she choose to be. Her style's bit "busy" (then again which aspiring and established J-player who's not? lol) but tastefully done, cool notes and stops' choices. She knows when to dig in that's for sure. I'm betting she keeps a regular weekly self practice at the very least. Keep her vids coming bro. Entertaining stuff it is.**hmm I found the youtube jp listings. Apparently 1 of the comments has found that the player's a guy o_O? well if that skirt rocks his boat -shrugs- ** "Band edition" - all players are the same person This post has been edited by eq8all: Oct 10 2008, 08:14 AM |

lol =p~ oh yeah about that iceman bass...The balancer could either be a:-
A. Tone - Turns for low, mid and high. or B. Pup control - bridge or neck voicing. I'm thinking B are most likely it since it doesn't make sense to have both pups on full by default. That will somewhat negatively affect the way you need to change or switch your attacks on certain song parts. I'm not sure what you're referring to as a "style sweeper".I'm not seeing it on the specs page. That Phat II is self explanatory. It's a bass boost circuit built-in and selectable by action (by that I mean manually. You twiddle with it when you want to) that adds the extra low blows bro.Haven't tried Icemans meself but judging from the 2H configuration it might be stronger on the mids or packs a definite growl maybe that's the reason. (or maybe just for tastes **shrugs**) |

The only best answer to that is that you should go and try both bro. It's a normal thing to get a bit overwhelmed with features but at the end of the day it's about what, how and when you use it for. Yes you might worry that you should have spent more for longer term features but there's also a good chance that you'd be paying for stuff you'll neglect from regular use later on anyways. Only thing I can say is if it's an Ibanez, you can't and won't go wrong on the money on either models that's for sure. Good luck and post pics when you've sealed the deal. ::thumbs up::

QUOTE(ViPeR r0-0m @ Mar 10 2009, 01:10 PM) well then, where else do u recommend for shopping for basses except bently.. You already have a BTB400QM which to me are already a more than capable axe. However if you have some moolah to spare and on the lookout for a good fallback one, mr.crazychris' being a tad modestlah ;p He didn't promo his own [WTS]Bass which I'll proceed to do so. Check this blog post http://fokyostudio.blogspot.com/2009/03/cu...ss-5string.html for a pretty good custom made 5er deal.Personally IMHO for RM1.3K+- that's a good buy. It's "broken-in", equipped with Bartolinis, ABM and Schaller parts to boot.Granted that you may have reservations about a relatively obscure named bass but as they say you gotta play it to know it.Back when tonezone was still around (RIP), I got my current OLP Tony Levin 5 Custom Peach from the guys and are well satisfied.Good customer service + a nice "take your time to doodle with that thing" approach when I test run the bass.Try it 1stlah.Might fit to your liking.that offer the good cust. service + choices.. and cheaper laa... |
