read on woods in google would help u on tat
basswood, as oppose to its NAME, has less bass response in the wood
so it makes it sound asif its has more mids...

which in this case thicken the tone
u cud get sum punch by boosting mids
that y u hav an "ultra-mid" switch in ampeg amps
