Tumpang thread. I'm planning to buy a lenovo yoga slim 7i carbon laptop, and it has usb-c charging. Is it possible to use a standard 20,000mah powerbank to charge it on-the-go?

60W fall short of the general market standard of 65W.

If you’re bangsawan, can consider getting 100W PD charger too.

Ugreen >>> all

Those bangsawan brands like Anker, Belkin and etc aren’t as proactive in making a variety of high specs PD charger than Chinamen brands like Ugreen/ZMI/Baseues did.

laptop power bank exists for quite some time, even for old laptop
the only troublesome part is
- harder to buy here
- more expensive, good one usually RM200-400
- usually bulky
- different laptop = different charger plug head, but not a big issue if you only have 1 laptop and 1 phone (it comes with usb port)

now USB type c make things even better
like you can charge your macbook using normal phone power bank, it will be VERY slow but it still charge
some use normal power bank to charge it while it sleep, or just to run few more hours of power
and PD power bank becoming more common

nowadays with latest phone chargers capable of 30-40 watts output, is it technically and cost feasible to produce a charger which can power both my samsung s21 and my 14 inch laptop with intel U processor?

Yes, I charge my iPhone and MacBook with the same USB-C charger.

Fixed

There’s non-GaN but still PD charger out there. Even Apple’s 87W charger also not yet using GaN.

The keyword is USB-PD and 45+W, you can check the specs list and look for those that can output 20V x 2.25A and above.

I bought this recent 12.12 sale for a stealing offer of under RM170, it normally cost more than RM300. 65W PD powerbank isn’t cheap, even if you go for China brands like Baseus, it will still likely set you back for RM180++

Ensure the laptop/device's USB-C port supports charging. No point buying the charger/powerbank if the laptop USB-C is doing data transmission only...

It’s because laptop charging through USB-C depends on the USB-PD protocol.

Without it (on both laptop or charger), you can’t charge the laptop.

With PD, the laptop will negotiate with the PB for higher voltage/current automatically.

Without it, the laptop may not be able to charge due to insufficient current or wrong voltage.

PD got many voltage one.

If you’re planning to charge laptop, you’re looking at those that have high voltage output (20V or 15V one). Most laptop’s PD is based on 20V, some others like surface or Apple may based on 15V.

18Watt output can only charge laptop when the laptop is turn-off/standby... We need at least 45Watt to charge laptop when it's on...
