Hi guys, this is my first post on Lawyat forum. Please be gentle nod.gif

I just bought new router Redmi AX6 to replace current D-Link router, but not able to connect to internet after several attempts.

Here are my current situations:
1) Unifi Home 300 mbps
2) Have PPPoE creadentials from old router
3) Have been chat with UNIFI technicians but they not provide any support on third-party routers
4) UNIFI customer support helps me reset PPPoE password

Router information:
1) Redmi AX6
2) Chinese ROM (confirmed by seller)
3) Firmware version: 1.0.18

I also look through some forums regarding SSH hack and VLAN tagging topics, are these necessary for setting up Redmi AX6 router? Kindly provide any suggestions or guides! Thank you in advance! thumbsup.gif

You are using a 3rd party router that is not officially supported by the isp. Answer is yes you need to do some custom vlan id on the router setting.

to be honest, too much effort.
I suggest you just disable the wifi on the dlink router. just connect the wan port of the new router to the old dlink router. configure your new wifi.
all the password id just let the dlink router handle.

Aiyo... why you buy router that has no UNIFI support out of the box? The specs is nice. But no local Msian rom support cannot la. But you are in luck. Someone used another Xiaomi router and had the same problem with you and made a guide for it.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I managed to figured that out myself after spending hours on researching. Probably not the most elegant solution, but still workable, managed to get Internet speed much faster than D-link as well as improved WIFI coverage. The fact that using Wifi-6 capable router and Wifi-6 supported devices do really make a huge difference! Overall great router!! thumbsup.gif

Unfortunately, current Redmi AX6 does not have SSH access built-in, and it is way complicated to turn SSH access on and follow configure VLAN ID using the video guide...
But anyway, I post the links which a forum on discussing to enable SSH access on this router. Anyone who own Redmi AX6 can follow this guide and successfully configure SSH access are welcome to post any follow-ups nod.gif
