You can actually go to telegram and go through their FAQ. They are willing to pay $300k if you can prove any leak or hacking of its data.

all apps all services collect data, but that's not the problem, problem is how much they sharing with each other. Previously Whatsapp let ppl opt out sharing with facebook, but recent 1 they remove the choice already, force ppl to share their data with facebook and all their apps.

it's not about if the apps is taking it or not, it's about how the apps and services share info among each other. There's a different between giving data with few different companies and give all your data to facebook, facebook then may share it with everyone in their network, the facebook audience network. Means you give your data to 1 person, and it's either he use it for himself or he then share with everyone else who partner with him.

Nothing is fool proof. The thing is we don't want one company have more of our data, in this case Fagbook via WhatsApp. Cannot even allow Whatsapp to dominate messaging service because it will become a monopoly where they can anytime silence you for breaking their SJW rule.
